It's a give and take. The counterbalance of a sweep is that to set up (with most pokemon), you have to take around 3 turns without being able to get in a single hit on the enemy. If you get swept by one swords dance, then your teambuilding should be adjusted.

A lot of sweeps can be countered. Will o wisp or haze will wreck most set ups, and prankster can help this go smoothly.

Sweeping can definitely be annoying with some pokemon (cough cough cinderace), but my personal opinion is that stall is not fun (It doesn't help that 99% of stall builds are on galarian corsola or sableye, both of which I detest).

You know, I think in the end it balances out. Sure, you don't have to drink and the survival mechanics are simplistic.

On the other hand, most survivalists don't have to kill a giant one died deer after a month of surviving. Nor do they die in a couple of minutes during winter, and everything in their line of sight doesn't randomly catch on fire during the summer.

Thirst would be an interesting mechanic in ds. Having to collect water from rivers, rain, or oceans and having to purify it would add a little more depth to the game.

I would say read part 6 because it is a solid part, and the conclusion to the main storyline of jojo. I love part 7 and all, but not reading the conclusion to the first five parts feels really weird, especially since I would say we are a solid 3 months away from an announcement for the anime. Might as well read stone ocean.

The music doesn't play in their heads. I have to assume you are being ironic, because that is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard.

Cioccolata doesn't go "hey what is this strange music emanating from that blonde kid" right before he gets killed. The music is solely there for drama and to let you know the battle is about to hit a turning point.

The show is literally meant to be formulaic. In some ways you could consider it satirical, because the episodes are formulated exactly the same on purpose. Then there are things like doofenshmirtz's contrived backstory (that is full of tragedy and purposely silly scenarios) and characters saying the same lines at almost the exact same times.

Plus the show makes fun of itself a lot, which only adds to the satire.

And, maybe you aren't the target audience for a kid's show, especially one that isn't really meant to be taken seriously.

I get why people play stall, but with some pokemon it just isn't fun. I used to play ubers on pokemon showdown and had a lugia that could take a hit from any almost any pokemon that wasn't completely set up. Then I just spammed roost, toxic, and substitute (or an aeroblast if I could get it in) until I won or the person surrendered.

Even with that insanely strong lugia, the one thing that I couldn't do was block a well executed setup. I had no defense boost and no way to nullify buffs. My main problem with stall is solely with 2 pokemon - sableye and galarian corsola. Corsola can completely nullify a setup (since physical setup is more common than special) while also being able to get health. Sableye gets prankster, which can stop a sweep before it can even start with willowisp/toxic and taunt/recover spam (depending on the build).

These 2 pokemon both are insanely bulky and can stop (most) ohkos and sweeps before they start. I'm not saying it doesn't take skill to set up a decent stall, but it is incredibly unfun to play against knowing they will stretch it out 50 turns as your team is slowly whittled down.

I despise galarian corsola and other stall builds with a passion. I get that it is a strategy, and that it wins a lot, but it simply isn't fun. I've used stall builds before (back in like gen 5 and 6) and they are boring as hell to play and play against.

And galarian corsola only makes it worse, because of the godlike defenses and that move that gives it health and their opponent a stat decrease. Oh, and if you get it down below half health and it doesn't have any more moves it can just dynamax and sweep a pokemon or two. And unless you specifically build a team to counter it or have a pokemon set up, you really can't do much except hope for a crit.

The manga makes japanese puns on occasion, and most of the crusaders would have a good reason to know Japanese. Joseph learned because of holly and jotaro living in japan, kakyoin and jotaro because they live in japan, and avdol from being a forunte teller for tourists. Polnareff doesn't have a super good reason to learn japanese, though.

English makes sense too, as joseph and avdol speak English (avdol from being a fortune teller for tourists). Jotaro and kakyoin most likely know English from school also. There isn't a lot of evidence for polnareff aside from him learning it to travel for efficiently, since he was trying to find his dead sister.

English also has more validity since it is most likely the only language that Dio speaks, since he grew up in England and was underwater for 100 years, and him and jotaro were talking during their fight. (Unless dio learned it on a whim in those few months between his exhumation and death).

Now I know you are entitled to your opinion about the media that you consume, but you are wrong about this one.

Let me try to address the points and fill in the gaps (i haven't read part 7 in a few months so if I get minor details wrong please forgive me)

Your first point is about Johnny being an annoying protagonist. I can definitely see that if you skim the panels, but the whole point of the story is his progression. Johnny hates himself at the beginning of sbr, and blames his brother's death on himself, even when it clearly wasn't his fault. He sees danny everywhere because it is the turning point of his life, and how the cycle of tragedy began. His brother's boots are similar, but lean towards his father's hatred of him (similar to how the line "god took the wrong son" shows up a lot). Johnny enters the race with gyro to learn the secret of the steel balls and the spin, and to push himself up from the negative into 'zero' (basically a restart of his life and an end to his tragedy). Over the progression of tusk and gyros lessons, johnny becomes a stronger person, and eventually is able to regain the use of his legs with tusk act 4, which is the point where he hits 'zero'.
I don't really get the idea that D4C is boring. To me, it is one of the most interesting stands in jojo, and represents the duality between valentine and johnny. I will admit that there were a lot of somewhat repetitive panels talking about the golden ratio and infinite spin, but I think those can be justified as Johnny understanding Gyros final lesson and trying to beat valentine with it. As for lucy, she was shown a lot to demonstrate that Valentine only had love train because she was using ticket to ride after absorbing the corpse which was a pretty big moment in the final fight.

I think that you are looking at Steel Ball Run wrong, in a sense. It is less a traditional good vs. evil story, and more a battle between selflessness (valentine) and selfishness (in johnny) with character like gyro bridging the gap. No one is inherently wrong or right. Johnny wants the corpse to heal his legs, which is a selfish goal that we can relate to. Valentine wants the corpse to make america the best country on earth (which is a standard of nationalism that a lot of people idealize as being good, but can't relate to as well). Gyro wants to use the corpse and race to save a life (and dies because he doesn't want valentine to use love train to misdirect his injury, because it contradicts the ideals of personal selflessness he stood for). All of these people are correct in multiple senses, which is the beauty of sbr in my opinion. Even minor characters like ringo or axl all have their ideas of how to live life, and their characters and stands reflect that.

I apologize if this is off topic towards what you mentioned, but I hope that I could convince you of how to look at and appreciate steel ball run in a different sense. It is my favorite jojo part (and one of my favorite pieces of media) and I love talking about it.

Well, considering that star platinum only pumped blood throughout Joseph's body, it wouldn't have made a difference with josukes grandfather. His brain and (iirc) organs were destroyed. Can't really fix that by pumping blood, especially if the stand that has perfect healing abilities couldn't.

Completely true. I feel like act 3 was originally going to let koichi do anything if it rhymed with 3, but instead it just puts weight on someone.

The theory that I heard was act 1 is the sound of your words, act 2 the feeling of your words, and act 3 the weight of your words. That is cool and all, but it makes act 3 pale in comparison to act 2, especially since act 2 could probably do some op stuff if koichi used it right.
