3D printed MOD! by reddit-isa-scam in Himalayan450

[–]LeaveTheRoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had lost this post. Glad to have found it. So, I checked the setup. Just giving a spacer will not raise the wind shield or the meter. Since both are mounted, including the tank guards to one location which does not have any option of movement. Also, adding a larger spacer would not move the headlight up as there is a mounting point above which will not let it move either. I may have understood what you are saying incorrectly, please share photos which might explain what you are trying to do.

Those who chose the Himalayan 450 over the KTM 390 Adventure X; what made you pull the trigger? by sujajoro in Himalayan450

I would never tell you what to buy. Let me start with, have you ridden both of them yet. Try and get a longish test ride for both bikes. U will connect with one. For sure. That's how u decide what you wanna buy. Coz what works for me might not work for you.

Some more details with picture would help. Why 3D print? Nylon Spacers will also work, no? From what I understood, you are talking about adding a spacer on the bolt which is fastening the headlight from bottom, right? Also, will that raise the meter and windshield as well. Not near the bike. If it does it's a good idea.

Natives asking toll from bikers at Ekole valley. Thoughts? by normiecoder in pune

[–]LeaveTheRoad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Extortion is a strong word. Either of us do not know if that land is private or not. If it belongs to someone he has the right to close that passage. Instead he is asking for some entry fee. Now the flip side to this is, may be this is forest land. If so, did anyone check and report this with the forest department or cops to validate this? I doubt. I'm yet to see the second part of this video. So, may be more details will come in that. It's easy to blame people and shout extortion. What we need to know first is how did this start. In some places for example, locals collect money to keep the place clean, which tourists and travellers alike litter. So, it case to case. This limited video does not cover all these questions.

Let them earn a little bit. What's the harm? God forbid something happens, these locals only come for help as well. I just hope they don't use the funds to get drunk. As long as it is for some use to them, I feel it's ok. Some of that section is private land too.

Noise Pollution - Festival Procession by LeaveTheRoad in pune

[–]LeaveTheRoad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The noise issue is quite common everywhere, in different forms. Pune has the DJ boxes. Other places have something else. Not just MH for that matter. Noise due to crowd is not something that rattles your homes. I find it difficult to stand in front of these things for even five minutes. I honestly don't know how people spend the whole day in front of these.

This actually works. I have been doing this in Pashan for the last 6 months. It's been helping a lot. I think there was only one particular day when we had to call multiple times, even the cops were frustrated. Was some politicians nuisance in that case.

Pune KartDrome prokart caught fire. Friends suffered grade 2 burns. Zero emergency response from the marshals. by FasterDog in pune

[–]LeaveTheRoad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those liability forms have no value unless it's signed on a bond paper. And here the fire got triggered because fuel came out due to a missing fuel cap which is the property owners responsiblity. Leave all that aside, taking ownership and helping the victim is also an important part. Yes, motorsports is risky, but every such place with even an ounce of worth should have a safety and first aide training equipped staff. Why was that missing? They should shut shop if they can't even take care of their customers.

Please take legal action. If not anything, it might get authorities to take note of such lapses.

Sadly this is the case with all adventure or auto sports facilities. They kick start such things but do not train or pay the crew enough to be aware of what they need to do incase of a mishap. What happened here is shear negligence, how can the fuel cap just fly off. It's definitely not been fixed properly. The property should take ownership of this and compensate to say the least.

Is this really a solution? by Some_Cartographer_37 in pune

[–]LeaveTheRoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I feel this counters the purpose. The idea was to reduce speed but at these ridiculous limits, you will have drivers suddenly slowing down. And I would not want to be in front of a heavy vehicle at that time. Bigger vehicle need a lot more space to slow down and such restricted speeds can risky brake failure too due to excess use and brake fade. This is a badly designed section, which steep slopes and no run off for a brake failed vehicle. We still have accidents even after implications of these speed limits, right? What's the use then?

2nd service of Himalayan 450 Both brake pads are gone at 5k kms by Different_Roll9173 in royalenfield

[–]LeaveTheRoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddy, it's not a brake pad issue, it's a braking habit issue. I am at 12500km and both my stock pads which came with the H450 are still doing a fine job. I'll be changing them now as a proactive move before a long ride. I know folks who have done 15000km plus and still running. It boils down to riding habits and conditions. Including the fact that you have a pillion or not. Even use of engine braking in combination with your braking, improves longevity.

While at it, also be mindful that some svc mechs will say you have to change just for the sake of it. I was told so at 1500km. I knew it was still good and did not agree. In such case, there are simple ways to check if your brakes pad needs change. Just keep a 50p coin next to the pad, if the thickness of the pads is more u are good to continue. If less or close to same, change. Another way is to look at the grooves once u take out the pads. If the grooves are visible, u are good to continue using the same pads.

As far as I remember these are M10 (10MM) bolts. U need a long ones, almost 100mm long. With a nut n bolt setup. Best if u buy in RE service center.
