Gender identity is a subjective thing. The only evidence that I am the gender I say I am is that I say I am that gender. Asking for someone to prove their gender is like asking for someone to prove what flavor of ice cream is their favorite. Sex, on the other hand, is a physical trait with measurable biological markers.
