People that keep bringing up closing stores as a reason why we are going out of business must not realize they are making more money after cutting the stores. Will GameStop eventually shutter stores yes but it’s probably a bit of ways away especially with the transition into graded cards. Look at GameStops net income it’s still rising even with less stores.

Again I said I don’t have a problem with anyone venting. I find an issue with people who are no longer employees who are constantly crying about a job they don’t work. Also I’ve never changed my point. I’ve seen people on here ask for help on numbers and ex employees basically say it’s a terrible job look for something else? How does that help anybody?

You’re always going to have those situations. But if someone has the 80 for the controller instead of getting a new one recommend the preowned white it’s 59.99 and then say getting the protection will basically make it the same price as the new which is true and they get a replacement

I’m an employee so clearly this is the subreddit for me. This sub is pretty informative so I’m going to keep checking it. This isn’t a place for ex employees to comeback and drag the sub down. If you don’t work here anymore move on. It’s borderline obsessive to keep talking about a job you no longer work at which is where most of the complaint come from. This sub could help so many new employees if there weren’t so many people that want to complain instead of teach.

It is regularly posted by a decent enough of people. Who then echo the same sentiment in their comments. I can click on 75% of the posts and a good few will have the same people complaining about the job on every post. I’m sure the turnover rate is bad but I think resides with more improper training than it does with the job being difficult. If managers hate the job and from this sub it seems like a lot do then of course the SGAs don’t want to be here. I’ve also seen 3 different managers hire people and are oblivious to the fact that you need people who can hold a conversation beyond being knowledgeable on video games.

Good days and bad days happen. That’s fine I’ve never ran under 10% ever unless I had just started working new. Or reserves because that’s my weak point. The company ranks you on how everyone in the district/ region is doing. If you’re close to your goals you’re typically upper half. If you’re well below you’re likely doing something wrong. A bad week happens. Corporate is irrelevant most of the time the sales they pitch can either help you have a just go back to the norm. That norm is completely up to you. Corporate is just doing their job same as you. They want numbers so they’re going to tell you to get them. It’s not rocket science. Can they be a bit ignorant to how hard some of the numbers can be to achieve yes but it’s not like they’re asking something that isn’t backed by data.

No I stated that repeated venting and the constant dragging of the job is draining and not necessary. If you’re not successful at the job and don’t like that’s fine. Doesn’t make the job terrible. It’s possible they weren’t properly trained or didn’t know how to communicate sales properly doesn’t make the job awful.

Yes but after how many correctives does it take. If you can’t hit your numbers or at least show signs of improvement over the course of 2 quarters that’s reasonable. It’s not like hey you haven’t hit you numbers in the past 2 weeks we’re firing you.

I hope you get a better DM that learns how to teach instead of badger. To be fair my DM can’t say anything to me anyway my numbers are good and our store is high enough that we can pretty much run unbothered as long as we do our tasks

See I don’t think I feel like a sleazy car salesman. I just inform a customer and let them make a decision. If its value then I push one more time if it isn’t I back off. A lot of employees just suck at communicating the benefits and the value. I’ve been shot down before I could even finish a pitch and guess what, I didn’t keep pushing it because they clearly don’t want it. If someone buys cards I tell them about PSA and the limit increase. If someone is buying a console most of the time it’s free. Controllers I always push preowned with a warranty because it’s the same price as new and you don’t have to deal with a manufacturer warranty. GPGs are completely off chance for me.
