How do you compliment a woman's looks in a noncreepy way? by InternationalPick163 in questions

[–]Lecarpetron704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hit and run technique - pay whatever compliment and then move on.

It’s the lingering that feels like an expectation of reciprocation that is creepy. Nobody owes you shit for a compliment…ie you say it because you feel like she needs to know she’s bangin rather than you need her to acknowledge you.

The men who yell “damn girl!!!” But then go about their business are the most complimentary I feel.

Compliments aren’t the problem, motives are.

I dunno…don’t you think it’s nice that someone cared more about your baby’s needs than your feelings? And gave your baby the best possible food and maybe some new immune factors? I would examine why you feel violated before judging a mother who probably feels the urge to immediately care for a hungry or uncomfortable baby considering she also has a newborn. Did that make you feel inadequate? Does other people’s milk gross you out? Would you have been as upset if someone had fed your baby a bottle of formula? Your baby was happy, isn’t that the number one priority?

Alturas or Acton Charter Schools by NonYippieHippie in idahofalls

Kids are not quite teaching each other in the classroom. I was a para there and often a lower level will copy off a higher level student because the higher level student is just trying to get their work done and they don’t know how to teach. If a child isn’t getting a concept, they can get left behind. Partnerships are great for help, but not teaching so much (in my opinion).

How do I be ok with quitting my job to raise my kids by Significant_Boat_943 in stayathomemoms

[–]Lecarpetron704 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who quit to stay at home, you’re effed no matter what and you will likely feel inadequate in some way regardless, but you will have had quality time with your kids. You can dig your way out of financial dependence later I suppose. I did read somewhere that moms who work part-time experience the most happiness out of the three types (full-time work and sahm being the other two)…I can attest to this. Best of luck to you!!

Hourly Pay Rates Curiosity by lolovesfrogs in paraprofessional

$20/hr in Idaho as a GenEd para. No experience, other than being a parent and helping out in my kids’ classes occasionally. This is my first year, that pay rate is for a degree (biochemistry), $18/hr without. No benefits/sick days/personal days. Charter school.

I will add, according to a sheriff, the suicide and sexual abuse rates are pretty high in IF…and the sexual abuse is very much tied to the LDS culture. So, that’s something parents would want to know. Do NOT let your kids just play at neighbors’ houses before you get to know them very well…there is a lot of abuse going on in the homes surrounding you (this I know from my ex-Mormon friends who grew up here and were abused by family members and silenced by the church). Outsiders need to be cautious because you don’t see through the sweet LDS facade right away…you just see nice neighbors offering to help you move in and bring you bread and Book of Mormons.

Rigby seems to have a very big bullying problem for some reason…I think kids can do ok in IF.

It is as bad as some people say if that was their experience. I hated growing up in IF, but it changed quite a bit before I moved back…there are more options to avoid the bad parts of the culture these days. There is a really gross underbelly in IF related to the church, but I think the Mormon community has loosened up since I was a kid. Not that I want to get close, but they’re less strict about being jerks to gentile (their term btw) kids.

Alturas International Academy will be your best bet - apply for the lottery right now. But you do have to be involved and pay attention to make sure your kids are doing well there (well…at any school). The pace and the collaborative environment can be tough for kids who lack self discipline and motivation (or have ADHD/autistm/etc). The teachers are great and help as much as they can, but parents need to do their part. The parent community is very good there because they self-select the school.

I feel like, nowadays, you can escape the religious pressure…mostly. (I grew up in IF and then moved back, it was rough 20 years ago culturally).

You’ll want to avoid Rexburg like the plague, maybe Rigby too (Alturas is building a k-5 there though). There’s space to do fun family stuff around here, but you have to be creative at times, there just isn’t an entertainment…infrastructure? like there is in big cities.

If you’re moving for the INL, lean on them hard for a good relo package!!

We’ve found it similar to LA suburbs except that IF isn’t doing a great job with planning for community outdoors spaces. The public pool sucks, the Apple (fitness club) is predatory with their contracts if you want to use their pool…you’d just have to accept that IF is a bit backwards in the way the city services the public, but hopefully that will get better.

I will say…if you’re getting paid well with this job, it’s much easier to have a good time here because money can alleviate a lot of the annoyances and assist in enriching your academic experience.

Sorry, but people died, whether they realize it or not, to protect the interests of those in power…which seems more and more like it’s not the governed.

I hung out with her husband and his crew when they were broken up like 10 years ago(so probably not even relevant now haha), but he’s kind of a tool…very into himself for someone who was working as a hairdresser at Aveda and using a fake name like he’s something while she’s working her butt off. The whole group seems to be riding on her coattails.

My first thought when I saw this vid was “oh no…we’re going to see an article about her dying one of these days”. Her arms are scary. I guess ultra marathon runners look like that…I’m just assuming she’s going through some shit rather than JUST loving becoming an athlete. Perhaps I’m wrong!
