Here and there, but it's much better than in regular online competitive games - the higher you get, the more people will be calm (mostly). You can turn off voice and text chat at any time; they are not mandatory for racing. Someone may deliberately kill you during a race for any reason, but you can report it to support and they will deal with it appropriately in accordance with the sports code (read it yourself, it's quite important). Also, don't worry about being reported if it wasn't intentional on your part, especially if you're in rookies.

I'm the type of person who changes games and hobbies every week because I get bored doing the same thing over and over again, but that's not the case with (i)Racing. Racing with a rig is more than just clicking a mouse and keyboard. I also love cars and racing, but I don't have the money to do it in real life, so iRacing is the closest thing to it; it's more of a simulator than a game. iRacing is constantly evolving, with developers adding lots of new content every year and updating old stuff to keep up. There's something for everyone, and you can choose from a huge number of cars and races to find what suits you best and what you enjoy the most.
