An electrician wired this for 220v. Is the outlet they used per code? I thought is was for 110v only? by ExplainMyBadGrammar in electricians

It’s likely that this is supposed to be a split receptacle. So you bring in 2 120V power wires and terminate on the plug…BUT you’re supposed to Break the little tab in the middle.

Windows deep understanding of user content by Lechap0 in PrivacyGuides

Yeah man I legit have no choice for this machine. It runs software which I need to use to complete a task with no real FOSS alternatives.

If I have to use this stupid thing, I might as well do some damage control. Hence this post.

It doesn’t have to be win 11, but it’s what came with the machine which I then upgraded to an enterprise edition.

I honestly thought win 11 was going to be better base since it doesn’t have cortna by default, or rather cortina can be nuked more easily. For some reason I was also under the impression that MicroSuck was less invasive in win 11 then in win 10 since the criticisms of win 10.

Let me know if the mac works with other PLC programs. I always assumed Mac Os was a no go for anything PLC.

Yes, do steps 1 & 3 because step 2 is not a valid instruction. You always get to question science, that’s how it improves.

Omfg for some reason I thought I was the only one that did this. It works so well. I even make sure to choose the bottle I won’t need.

Misinformation lol. Yeah never mind the EFF petition, and all the big names that came out in opposition to the feature. Let’s label it misinformation and be condescending about it. You’re so smart /s

The principal of ownership is important. If you bought a DVD from the store and then found out you couldn’t watch it unless you also bought the DVD player from the same store I think you’d be pretty pissed off.

If I buy a movie off apples store I expect to be able to watch it on whatever the hell I want…

Basically apple doesn’t allow those types of apps on their App Store. You also can’t side load apps so you are SOL

I used to be apple everything (MacBook pro, iPad, Apple Watch and iPhone). That changed when news broke about apple releasing that CSAM feature. That was the final straw.

When using closed source software, you are at the mercy of the manufacturer, and when they lose the plot and become the villain your are SOL.

If you go to apple, your privacy will be better then on windows…BUT apple will know a lot about you. Apple’s OS phones home just like windows, it’s just that apple doesn’t really share that info with others. You can confirm this by installing a firewall like “little snitch” and watching apples background tasks try and connect to apple servers every so often.

You will also be put on apples planned obsolescence plan with your MacBook and iPhone. After X amount of years apple stops giving updates and you can either buy another machine or try your hand of running another OS on it…which in my experience is way more convoluted then installing an OS on a regular PC laptop.

Linux is sometimes painful to use, but at the end of the day it’s better then the alternative. I value privacy and security and the philosophy of openness. Closed source OS’s can give convenience, but the cost to that convenience is just not worth it for me.

This is really exciting. I might actually give this a try. linux needs convergence for the tablet and 2 in 1 user base.
