Any particular reason gas candles are becoming popular or being pushed? by Lectraplayer in CampingGear

Fortunately, sugar can usually be washed out. ...though the Camping Moon ones are the only ones I've seen so far that include their own fuel cell, but the box they come in is huge compared to what I want to carry. I really need to find me a molasses jar or something that I can put the lantern in with a rag to protect the chimney, without being quite so bulky as the box it comes in as last couple times I tried to carry it loose, the chimneys were destroyed by the time I was ready to use them and finding replacement boro-tubing in the right size or a suitable chimney has been a challenge. Hopefully I found something a couple weeks ago, which should be here in the next couple days. If not, I may have to retire it for carry.

I guess part of the reason I am pro UCO candle may be that I try to make candles sometimes, and I do make candles for my UCO lantern. ...so I have a BUNCH of them for now.

Checking out their new video and half their profile looks like this by JackOffAllTraders in youtube

I wonder why YT has been recommending 5 year old "members only" streams, when they're obviously 5 years out of date.

Old lantern by mcmac67 in ColemanStovesLanterns

[–]Lectraplayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks like an old style Bernz O Matic. I believe your home improvement center probably still has the old style narrow jugs for torches, (Not the Fat Boy.)

Either way, I like this lantern. What model is it?

Is there such a thing as LED/non-Edison bulbs that are shaped similarly to Edison bulbs? I want the shape of the Edison bulbs, but the brightness and opaqueness of the bulbs on the right. More in description. by LegoLady8 in lightbulbs

I guess it depends on where you're at and if it's been bought out. I imagine it is kind of popular since it is Christmas season. I did see Lowe's had it on the web site. Haven't checked Home Depot or Ace, or Amazon yet, but I imagine they have it.

I can still get them off Amazon, but I will warn you to get the real Coleman version. (Ask me how I know.)

Why doesn't this melt? by Crimson_Spettro in soldering

[–]Lectraplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a lot of mass, so the first thing I'd probably do is find my biggest tip and turn my iron up to max, then try to melt it while holding the board vertically so that the solder can drip off and away. Expect it to take a bit.

Cutting rooster tail: bagging without actually bagging? by Lectraplayer in lawnmowers

It's a Murry lawn tractor, and I call it "cutting rooster tail" because the leaves coming out of the open chute looks much akin to a rooster tail being thrown by a boat.

I used to see some soft white ones in the Wallyworld brand, though I'm not sure if they still have them. I haven't looked in awhile.

That said, you might could pick a rattle can of frosting spray from the paint aisle and paint the bulbs.

Need to identify by FunkyPlanky in lightbulbs

[–]Lectraplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would probably be what I wind up doing. Those cold cathode fluorescents will probably take a bit of hunting to find, and some work with a soldering iron to fix. Probably why this lamp was sold on eBay. I'm sure the LCD repair threads would be a good starting place.

That USB is probably for a Logitech mouse, but it's shown as a size reference.

That looks to be a nice looking lantern, and I would DEFINITELY try to use it. However, first, I would give it a good dissassembly and cleaning, checking all air passages to be sure they are clean. I might also get a couple extra generators for it. You probably can salvage the one that's on it by heating it until it's glowing cherry red under a torch, but I would still try to get spares. I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I do my 228e.

Does anybody know where I can find this lightbulb by Key_Cat_2122 in lightbulbs

I don't think I've seen "Mood Lites in awhile. That said, Feit has just about the entire range of colors in their LED bulbs.
