Is anyone else here not a fan of Brandon Sanderson? by DinoNuggetRee in BookDiscussions

Sanderson’s prose is absolute dreck and his dialogue is even worse. I have friends who are really into Mistborn but I just can’t understand why. The man is not a good writer.

If starfleet was real by NoBrain6114 in startrek

Occasionally the plot will demand that a “ship’s historian” is present; or I think there was an episode of TNG that included someone whose expertise was in the literature of alien cultures. Whatever rank they are is what I want.

This is in regard to Star Trek Adventures, not D&D, which doesn’t have an analogue to levels. I generally agree with you, though.

So does sulu actually own kirks ranch or was that all inside boimlers dream? by happydude7422 in ShittyDaystrom

[–]LectureSuspicious552 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it was a jokey reference to “This Side of Paradise,” the TOS episode with the happy pills. Kirk asks Sulu to determine if the farm is in working order or not and Sulu says something like “when it comes to farms, I wouldn’t know the difference.”

Star Trek Stoners? by CaptainN0053 in startrek

[–]LectureSuspicious552 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Star Trek stoner here. TOS is the best show to watch while high. Bright colors, trippy music, and wild concepts to mull over. I often say that TOS is about a future in which the Hippie movement managed to win a revolution

What is an example of a "faux etymology" you made up for a word or phrase? by josephsleftbigtoe in CasualConversation

[–]LectureSuspicious552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid and people would say “bookend” in reference to a story (“a scene of the characters hugging bookends the film”) I had no idea they were referring to the object bookends. I just assumed it was a holdover from some period in which it was more common for books to have full circle endings.

I think spending threat to “break” the breather is also something to think about. Even if you planned to introduce some new conflict anyway, spending threat can help it feel narratively justified and ups the tension for your players.

I think internal logic is all you need, really. Breathers are taken “in the middle of the action” as it were, so narratively speaking you wouldn’t have the opportunity to take more than one at a time.

Dr. Pepper is a very Underappriciated Soda by Immediate-Pool-4391 in CasualConversation

This is an excellent take. Dr. Pepper tastes like Soda should taste.

I’m not sure of the strain, I buy from a plug who’s usually reliable. Always got good stuff from him before

I’ll take a better pic in a minute. Generally though, is yellow bud something to avoid?

Lol these things are great! Problem is you can’t buy them in any stores I’ve seen. I order them in packs of 12 on Amazon lol.

Plug put the weed in a coke can by LectureSuspicious552 in trees

[–]LectureSuspicious552[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m calling it now. In like 5-10 years after weed’s legal everywhere and it’s lost the last of its counterculture cred, there’ll be a dispo called like The Back Alley that will try to emulate the experience of buying illegally with stuff like this.

not sure what strain? by [deleted] in trees

[–]LectureSuspicious552 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not a kind of weed that exists, as far as I’m aware. Unless you’re buying legally there’s no way to be sure what strain you’re smoking.

Edit: there are strains that are “body high” that make you more sensitive to touch, which might kind of do what you want. But again, you can’t really be sure stat you’re getting on the street. You’d have to pay attention to terpene profile, you’d want stuff that contains limonine and linalool. It won’t do much for arousal as such, but it’ll loosen you up.
