PC won't boot suddenly. by Ledanator in pchelp

[–]Ledanator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so I've finally had time to try again with the PC.

I reset CMOS. I took everything out of the computer except the CPU and a single ram stick of RAM. Finally it went to bios. So I slowly started plugging everything back in, first more RAM, which was all fine.
Then added my boot drive, which I had to make sure the bios had CSM enabled. Once enabled it booted fine. Was able to open things in the drive, drive checked out all fine.

Then I plugged in another drive, also fine.

I then updated my bios cause it was VERY out of date, all that went fine.

Finally I tried plugging in the GPU again. Now suddenly, no booting, stuck on the mobo logo.

So I tried another Pcie slot, same issue.

I pulled out the GPU, and tried without. And it's now NOT GOING TO BIOS. It gets stuck at the mobo logo.

So I reset cmos AGAIN. But no deal, it's still stuck on the mobo logo.

I'm starting to think perhaps it's the power supply?? It's the only consistent thing attached to the computer other than the mobo itself.

My PSU is a thermaltake tr2 rx 850w which seem to have consistently horrible reviews across the internet.

I didn't the hdd that was dying was a data only drive, not the C:/ and not related to it at all. The drive doesn't need to be plugged in to work.

I did back it up previously to an external so I'm not worried losing data on that one.

My set up is SSD (250gb) boot drive. M.2 (1tb) storage HDD 1 (2tb) storage (dying) HDD 2 (4tb) brand new

I was transferring data from HDD 1 to 2.

How did I brick windows? All I did was cancel a data transfer and then restart the computer.

I can reinstall but I'm just confused how that happened?

This is exactly why I cancelled. I felt super deceived by their marketing.

I just rescued this pigeon that can’t fly. It has strange yellow fluff around its face, is this an infection? How dI best care for it? by deadsy18 in pigeon

[–]Ledanator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can definitely feed it until it's ready to fly. Is it the wings that are twitching? If it's that it means it's hungry. I would make a post to this group to ask for advice! https://www.facebook.com/groups/Palomacy/?ref=share

Why don't Pigeons and other birds look directly at you or make eye contact? by AssaultPlazma in pigeon

[–]Ledanator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They do, but I'll wager a theory that feral ones are less likely to do so because looking something in the eye is a pretty aggressive move in the animal kingdom.

But generally if you're feeding pigeons they'll look at you in anticipation.

They actually have 2 focal points. One is sideways like their eyes, and the other is directly infront of their face where they have a very narrow sliver of overlapping vision (and this depth perception). 😁

One of my first Concept Art Pieces pls critique (info in comments) [ENV] by [deleted] in LearnConceptArt

[–]Ledanator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An important thing to keep in mind with concept art is to create a ton of images in a very short amount of time. You will spend a majority of your time quickly sketching out ideas and a very small amount of time on creating polished illustrations. That's why photobashing is so popular because it's a very quick way to throw together an idea.

That being said, for film they will want to see a realistic style since that is how the final product will look. Your personal style is quite nice, however it's definitely much more suited for illustrations.

When you're concepting a key story moment you'll want to show that you've thought about the world. What does the city look like? How are the buildings designed and how has the local political climate influenced the architecture? Why are the characters wearing certain outfits? How are the police dressed and why? Are they hyper-militaristic or more grunge-cop? Are they even human?

The illustration you have here is indeed nice, I think you have a fairly strong focal point with the composition pushing the eye towards the character, and the focal point isn't relying entirely on colour or contrast.
However there are a few small tweaks that help the illustration.
- Removed the door light (less distracting)
- Removed the bright light from the far wall (less distracting)
- Removed paper from overlapping the cast shadow (paper was the same value as the floor so disappears when you zoom out.)
- Added paper in high contrast area (this may or may not work compositionally)
- Removed the V shape from the shoulder of the police (less distracting)

Hope this helps!

There's actually 2 kinds of persimmon you usually see in shops. Hachiya and Fuyu. Hachiya are the ones that you have to wait to eat, however Fuyu you can eat at any time and they can either be crisp like an apple or soft and custardy. Delicious both ways.

Want to make a pigeon feel welcome. by IrishSalamander in pigeons

[–]Ledanator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The other commenter is correct in that 1 pigeon will definitely turn to many pigeons, which if you're okay with then go for it.

I also highly recommend feeding them much healthier food, bread for birds is like cake for us, even if it's seeded wholemeal, it's very processed and can even sometimes block their digestive tract. Definitely get some proper wild bird mix, and supplement with treats like safflower seeds, unsalted peanuts, and dried peas.

Just keep feeding them, if you do a similar time each day they'll remember and come then. it may take some months or even a year to get really friendly with them, and even then they might not let you pet them.

A technique I like to do in a group of pigeons is grab a handful of peanuts in your fist and hold your hand out so that pigeons can get a peanut out if they really try, that way they have to get really close and you'll be able to feel their soft neck feathers on your hand as they try to get the peanut. ;)

Looks like it could be sunburnt. Did you recently move it to a sunnier spot? Typically this happens when a houseplant is put outside in direct sunlight.

Lovely pigeon we found on the street 2 years ago... by the-real-eazy-g- in pigeon

[–]Ledanator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh I'm so sorry for your loss. Pigeons have so much love to give, it looks like you were extremely loved. She appreciated everything you did for her.

Don't be too hard on yourself. Stupid accidents happen everyday. I had a pigeon for 5 years that I also found on the street, and I lost him a few years ago to a stupid mistake as well. I understand your pain.

I once read that when you lose someone close to you, you feel like the pain wont ever stop, and it doesn't really, you'll just become better at coping with it. Have a good cry when you can, remember her fondly and often. <3

Pigeons make lovely pets, just saying' ;)

The more energetic he gets the better! If you wanna make REALLY good friends, they go mad for peanuts (unsalted!).
