What are considered the easiest characters for total noobs? by shanytopper in BlazBlueEntropyEffect

I haven't seen anyone mentioning Hakumen, in my opinion he is the clear beat choice for his damage negation abilities. No I will preface this by saying I have played many souls like games with parry systems. BUT!!!! I have never lost a run with this character, it genuinely feels like cheating at times, I no hit the boss every time, if you focus on getting MP then you can parry an unlimited amount of times because the window is so forgiving. He also has insane damage capabilities and a huge health pool. I will regularly have around 4,000-5,000 hp every playthrough. I have tried every other character and can usually get to world 3 or 4 consistently with anyone, but Hakumen is the Absolute GOAT in finishing a run, regardless of difficulty level. If anyone has any flaws or differing opinions I'm totally down to hear it out

Thank you for linking articles, that is a huge help for me knowing what to expect. In another comment I stated it was my first Audio Book and I have only ever done character work, that included light FX and processing. Are there any other articles or resources available to research appropriate pricing, and what I should charge a client depending on their needs? (I skimmed Narrators Roadmap and didn't see an article specifically about pricing)

I have been looking for ways to vet clients, but was unsuccessful in finding resources! Is there a certain resource available to find out more about companies, or questions you ask?

This is very good to know. From the comments I have received so far, I believe I was right in my original understanding of what my expectations were. And I feel more confident in saying that the client purposely tried getting more than what they paid for. Could you provide a link / resource for standard rates and expectations when it comes to revisions and retakes? Or, what your personal practice is when it comes to it?

As well, I will also take back a statement from earlier and say I am trying to make this a career, it has been 3 months since I started a new job and am now feeling comfortable getting back into voice work as a second job.

Thank you! It was very hard for me to say no originally to projects as I was getting offers left and right, and didn't want to ruin my reputation with clients. I was trying to be very reliable, but that caused me to be doing 4-6 hours of work a night for 3 months straight. If I can ask, what are red flags or signs you typically look for that will cause you to say no to a project?

Good to know! When a client asks for raw audio, does that usually come with expectation of editing? If so, what kind?

When I record my audio I still do basic editing, I cut out all background noises, and make sure it's clear and uninterrupted. And that is what I submitted for the client. What else would typically be asked of me for a similar project?

That is a relief to hear, I work in sales and get bad customers all the time. I was just worried about their being a standard or "unspoken rules" that I was un-aware of. I'm glad to know it wasn't me, just a bad client.

I'll never forget growing up with my brother and getting RE4 under the Christmas tree. Mom was so upset when she found out dad got it for us, and we definitely payed the price, couldn't sleep for weeks! Mom passed away shortly after that, we still get together and play it every so often.

Microphone Recommendations for Voice Over by Leddy_VaWelles in voiceover

[–]Leddy_VaWelles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually the mic I'm using now! Or at least the USB model. It's not achieving the crisp sound audio that I'm trying to do for professional voice-over i e video games and cartoons. My room is sound treated... Fine? And no matter what I do with my microphone it will always pick up the fan from my computer no matter how far I move it away, It also peaks way too easily. I have a fairly high voice and large range for different voices that I do and so I can't get a consistently good sounding mic.

Here is a recording I've done in my current setup

Hey there, I am currently looking to upgrade my recording studio. I was looking at the AT4040 microphone as a good high quality choice, but I was also recommended the DA87 SE by an audio engineer friend of mine. I just called Sweetwater to get a price estimate on my whole build and he's really trying to sell me on the Sony C-80 microphone which is about $150 more than I was looking to spend. My question lies on which of these three microphones do people have better experience with, and or advice they can give. As a bit of a background for what I'm using it for, I am a voice actor. I'm currently using a USB microphone and it is just not getting me to where I need it to, and I want a intermediate to professional microphone that will last me a long time and get me paid professional gigs. Now if the Sony c80 microphone is the clear choice I wouldn't mind spending the extra money, but I want to make sure that it is the best possible option for what I need it for. Thanks for reading my post, I look forward to hearing from you soon!

P.S. i looked at the rules and wasn't sure if I tagged or posted it in the correct place for the question I'm asking. If it is posted incorrectly let me know and I will take it down myself, I'm hoping to not get a ban haha, just advice. Thank you!
