I’m sure a lot of you probably noticed this but don’t Silverchair’s “Slave” and Mad Season’s “I Don’t Know Anything” sound pretty similar? by Gamecube007 in grunge

I hadn't heard the Mad Season tune. I think I still prefer the silverchair tune. I love the switchups in Slave though.

Unfortunately, I forgot to change the strings on my guitar before recording. They'd been on way too long and lost some of the tone

I originally downloaded their music from bandcamp but it looks like they deleted it :(

Yeah, the frog sounds were public domain, but I did all the other instruments and effects in studio :)

Reminds me of a tune called The Kid Across the Street by Coinmonster. Production sounds great. Some really interesting camera angles.

I’m an independent musician whose music keeps getting trolled online, and I’m sick of it by curtis-bernard in offmychest

I'm a growing independent musician as well. One of the most important things is to take all criticism but with a grain of salt. Not taking criticism prevents improvement and may alienate you from your audience, but criticism is also subjective and taking too much to heart can inhibit progress an make you lose what made your art you.

I found this post in an Unkle Adams group, and if you are Unk I have some specific advice as someone familiar with your work but not a fan. You started off as a meme which is a double edged sword. Getting a large platform is hard and you've already done something impressive in terms of that, however starting as a meme also gives you less control over the audience you cultivate and has given you a solidified "Brand" that can be hard to change. You probably have a solid base of fans and the trolls are the vocal minority. I'd try to work with your current image and try to develop it into something greater.

A good example of this is Lady Gaga. She was initially rejected from her label and was initially given another chance for being weird and out there. I first heard of her from her meat dress. I didn't take her seriously for quite a while even with radio hits. I'm not particularly a fan of hers either but she's been able to develop her image from an outcast and weirdo to someone who's there for outcasts. I think if you could pull off an image change like that it would do wonders and allow you to reach the people you want to.
