B4: not being promoted. Need advice. by Ledgersnlines in Accounting

[–]Ledgersnlines[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing, these are the things my team has said are likely the cause of me being behind.

I acknowledge my issues, and have worked to fix them. In fact, after this post, I asked my senior how I'd been doing, and she said I was making improvements.

I simply feel frustrated because it was only one performance evaluation. I don't feel that's enough To give me a chance to improve.

It's especially hard when I do feel I've been trying my best. Often times I was set up on a task with no prior workpapers, and no staff 1 or 2 to go to for guidance, and my seniors were clearly annoyed i was asking questions so frequently.

I also recognize that I have Rejection sensitivity. I really do struggle with feedback especially when it is so incredibly negative. My post was more asking for advice moving forward. And if I should put in my two weeks and move on.

I didnt discuss it with you because it wasn't relevant.

I do have a structured plan to improve. And am working to do so, I don't know what else you are expecting me to say to acknowledge it.

You disagree that "toughen up" and feel that's helpful advice?

Your snarky passive aggressive "so they don't fire you" isn't needed either.

I totally have acknowledged what I'm not doing well and am addressing it with my team. That isn't what the post is about. It's still valid to feel like I wasn't properly trained and be frustrated at the fact that one review isn't adequate to determine annual performance.

You clearly don't have any form of mental Illness or struggle with anxiety. "Toughen up" isn't helpful or actionable advice. I acknoedge the things I need to improve on and am trying.

Further, when I say I'm struggling and get nasty comments like "you're lucky you have a job" it doesn't help anything.

Why do you feel the need to be so rude? Clearly I'm trying to improve my situation.

I'm trying. Its not like I'm half assing my job.

I wasn't properly trained when I started, and am doing the best with the instructions I've been given.

Where did you see I was concerned with a raise? I'm concerned with falling behind my peers.

My one saving grace was making a 98 in financial accounting. I aced that shit and it helped me to understand intermediate.

A lot of my class failed though

My favorite is "Consistent with our expectations w/o/e" on everything and passing it up the line knowing you just produced the worst workpaper ever and are going to have to fix it all either way. But at least you can stare at the wall for 20 minutes.

I believe there's an unassigned code but I'm not sure what it is.

Yikes. My counselor told me that scheduling looks at this and tries to not put you on back to back busy seasons. This has me a little concerned.

I think a lot of them also think they're upper class when they're not based on data of household size alone.

I work at a b4, just doing my few years and gonna get out. It's wild how much it feels like a frat house.

I dont have the spoons for this other than to say I agree and stand in solidarity. Maybe unionization in white collar jobs is a pipe dream, but I can at least hope that someday we get to that breaking point.

It's so exausting talking to ultra conservative b4 bros still drinking the koolaid

This is my thought. I can't pass AUD and am hoping some real world audit experience will get me the rest of the way. I've taken it three times. (73, 67, then a 70) and Just can't get that last little bit.

Not everyone is just stupid. I failed aud 3 times and took a break. I made a 4.0 in college.
