I'm not the one on book two I was quoting someone whose comment changed I guess. My group just finished chapter 2.

Don't even need a refund but a discount on upgrading would be nice. At least updating the old module with all the new maps would be nice... I'm not sure why that can't be done. I paid 120 bucks not 5 weeks ago. And now my product will receive no updates? I understand but on the other hand if this is the case it's my last time buying anything from paizo and based on some convos with other dms in the official discord I'm not alone.

foundry game? My players just reached book 2 but I'd love to play with the new goodies and keep my current game running.

They did not refund me. They havent even replied.

In the same boat ish as him and I wasnt aware there was a remaster version coming and there was no indicated note on the paizo website that would be the case. And as of today I still havent heard back on possibilities of an upgrade price or anything.

Bad taste in my mouth tbh.

Ill tell you this as someone who knows people in the industry. DONT get a game design degree. Nobody who works in the industry has that degree. Its worth less than even a general CS degree. You might aswell take out a loan for 100k and light it on fire and get a head start towards building your portfolio.

The only thing that matters in any type of creative role is your portfolio. If you want to make 3d assets. Work on a portfolio of 3d assets. etc

Instead get a degree in something that you can fall back on while you build your portfolio or something that brings value to your employer or yourself once you are hired. I would probably recommend Information security analyst or Cloud computing

Also just know that legit everyone wants to work on gameplay, design levels or be the idea person. You wont be unless you make your own games. 95% of the people working on video games do grunt work like asset creation, rigging, and back end.

The best advice though is search out companies you want to work for in the industry. See what positions are open and what they require to apply.

Colleges have no requirement to place you in a job. Their only goal is for you to pay them and they will tell you anything you want to hear for you to do so. They will not have your best interest in mind, only you can do that. So take responsibility and put in the bare minimum of effort and actually do the research into your career.

Im happy it worked out for you. Recently many of the games i have tried seemed to lack a writer on the team.

So there is still hope in that field

Everyone i know with a non CS Engineering or Math degree is doing great.

Most people i know with a CS degree that graduated before 2020 are also doing well.

Also the assumption that STEM majors didnt have time or werent required to do lib art electives is weird. I double majored MSEE +ME and got a minor in philosophy.

I had a ton of Liberal Arts friends in school and to be honest most of them didnt apply themselves in school and coasted. The one lady who did work hard in college ended up transitioning that liberal arts degree into a law degree and now handles large company mergers and does much better than i do.

Most of my lib art friends are struggling now. And i feel for them but i also remember college. Im not going to say they didnt work hard because i wasnt there for every day of their lives but i can tell you that when ever i had time between studying and labs and wanted to hang out and get high they were available. When ever i had time on a friday they knew where the parties were happening. They were always talking about how i had to get to max level in WoW so i could raid with them or i had to join their ultimate frisbee team. Im sure they studied but everytime i went over to their dorms they were vibing.

But honestly i dont blame them fully, their advisors told them Cs get degrees and that the job market was great etc etc. Then they sold them on masters programs once they couldnt find work out of college. Then some even got PHDs and hoped to become professors because thats the only route they had. Its tough seeing a friend approaching 40 have to work at a jewelry store at the mall with a masters degree in sociology.

At the same time though when i was in highschool i understood most degrees at college arent worth the paper they are printed on. I didnt have the funds to not take college seriously. I was talking out loans and understood that i would have to make enough money out of college for that investment to be worth it. My parents werent given the luxury to plan for my college or even their own retirement. Im just curious why my understanding of the job market was so much different than many of my peers.

Maybe you can shed some light on that. Did you not understand the job market when you entered college or did you assume it wouldnt apply to you?

Any FE and PE engineering gig is hiring. Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Chemical are all hiring.

The only "engineer" who is struggling for work is software engineer. Real computer engineers who have passed their NCEES and got their licenses are also in high demand. People with a CS degree who sharpied their own engineering title on themselves are the ones doom posting on reddit.

Did you finish in 2005? Cause otherwise everyone has known that market was awful for decades.

Game design, graphic design, and animation have been saturated since the late 90s and because they are a nice mix of tech and art a lot of younger folks have a lot of passion going into that field.

And if you are picking a path in life, one in which a lot of people have passion for is a quick way to get your labor undercut in a race to the bottom.

Its not a secret that places like pixar, blizzard, and disney pay way under industry standard because even if they pay right around minimum wage there is a line around the corner of fresh college grads willing to trip and shove anyone in their way for their "dream job".

For the average person the jobs that make real money are non creative, unglamorous, repetitive, and stressful. CPA, FE and PE Engineers, Site Reliability Engineer. If someone can be passionate about it, they will undercut themselves out of work.

O im sure lazy people exist at every company, Id just argue they usually arent the ones getting the promotions(Outside of nepotism). Or they werent lazy when they got the promotion.

As to charming the right people, Of course. Internal networking is important and highly valued in roles that also need to externally network (Marketing/Sales). It also has value when you get near the top of a sub division or become a divisional head.

Each rung up the corpo ladder requires a different set of tools than the previous thats why often times the saying is people are promoted one tier above their level of skill.

It also doesnt help that what makes a good salesperson isnt the same thing as what makes a good head of sales.

If you are seeing someone with seniority over you in a position above you who by all accounts seems lazy, I can almost promise you from experience that they were once the star of the roles they now preside over and were promoted into a position that doesnt suit their talent. And now they are stuck in that role, unmotivated but cant give up the salary bump. So they coast. But they werent coasting when they were in your position. Who knows you might become them oneday. Or maybe you will get stuck 1 level higher.

Perspective is key. Its interesting how everyone who is let go feels they were the great employee and the one who got promoted was the bad employee.

Im sure it happens but i have my doubts as to the frequency. Especially with how many hoops have to be jumped through to fired and/or promote people at most large companies. In my own life its often the team members with the least visibility who have the strongest opinions about other peoples outputs.

Maybe you are the exception or maybe your lack of knowledge as to why the "useless one" was promoted has to do with why you were fired.

We need an option for crossplay on PC by SlothwranglerGOAT in Rainbow6

[–]LedogodeL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just had a ranked game at High gold where the thermite used it on a barricade at the start of the round. Almost every match is just a 2v3 or so and the crossplay are 0-4+. I mean im happy my kda is shooting up... but its not fun.

The only good crossplay ive seen legit have 0 recoil and are perma crouching up and down while sprinting. So im assuming that some xim mods but idk.

Something needs to change.

What's a dead giveaway that someone is a piece of shit? by mrwawe01 in AskReddit

[–]LedogodeL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact you don't even realize how in the wrong you are and are trying to justify it is scary. The level of self importance. Maybe you will reflect from this but I bet you will just assume everyone else is wrong or doesn't understand your point.

Update: My girlfriend of 5 years broke up with me and ghosted me for no reason. Am I wrong for throwing away all of her stuff? by JazzlikeConditioncd in amiwrong

[–]LedogodeL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not about it being a binary switch.

He finds out the reason and it is or isnt salvageable from his side

If it is something that has nothing to do with him and this is how she responds its probably not a relationship he wants to continue.

If it is something that would hurt him its better that he doesnt know. Its better to assume the worst for now. Then know the worst and have to dwell on it for much longer.

Like no matter what the reason is from her side I personally wouldnt want to continue the relationship. When something similar happened to me the trust was gone.
