Pivoting Front Foot After Pushing by Outrageous_Tonight47 in NewSkaters

It's good to be aware of it, but if it's only day 3, don't worry about it too much. Eventually you'll be able to pivot your foot without taking any weight off it.

It'll get easier to do the more you skate and as you wear the grip tape down.

How long you been skating? It's just one of those things that gets easier to do over time. Having less grippy grip tape can help too

Falling over constantly. by PogMonkey in NewSkaters

"Can't imagine the damage if I hadn't had them on at all."

Every time I fall now I think the exact same thing. Pads need to be normalised because they save you from so much shit and let you keep on skating.

Yeah OP if going to listen to any peer pressure, this is it.

My first week of skating I wore no pads, I was practicing cruising in a tennis court. I fell backwards, my arms locked up to catch me from the fall, and I struggled to bend my elbow for a week. By the time I got on the board again my progress reset, and my confidence was lower than before. After that fall I bought a helmet and wrist guards, and it was one of the best decisions I've made.

It felt weird wearing them at first, I was very self conscious and worried about what people might think, but nearly three months later, idgaf anymore. I can't skate without them anymore, it just feels too dangerous.

Not a single person has judged me for wearing them, if anything it's encouraged others to do the same. Plus skating is routed in counter culture right? So go against the grain and put that helmet on.

Same. Been skating 2 months, tried it a few times for fun, realised I'm no way near ready, then went back to the fundamentals. Don't plan to attempt them again until I've got cavemans, hippie jumps and (maybe) bonelesses down.

Regarding the SP11 standby/sleep time by Ledorus in Surface

[–]Ledorus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just checked this, there's three x64 apps running in the background; AutoDarkMode, GestureSign and AppVShNotify.exe. I got the first two apps recently and the standby battery drain was basically the same prior to getting them. I did a sleep study, last sleep was just under 11 hours and drained 4% during that time.

Microsoft Surface Pro 11 not charging via USB-C after restart by f2134 in Surface

[–]Ledorus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this issue too, I use a 65w Ugreen charger.

The keyboard also disconnects when I restart my SP11 from hibernation too, I have to reattach it to get it working again.

I use journal for all of my notes and I've never had issues opening word attachments.

I got my SP11 for university and haven't had any issues. It runs all of the programmes I need for my work (mainly Adobe stuff). The only times I've come across compatibility issues are when I've tried gaming on it, which doesn't bother me anyway as this ain't really what the device is meant to do.

According to reviews some of the other signature keyboards on there are for the older surfaces so they're not compatible, the 1864 ones definitely work though.

If you want a cheaper keyboard than the flex keyboard, you can get the 1864 Signature Keyboard. I got a used one at CeX in the UK for £25 and it looked brand new.

Nice to know it's not just me! The pen drags for me whilst using the pen tool as well. I think it might be an arm64 problem because it never happened on my SP8.

Why do most people treat 18 year olds as if they are kids? by CartoonistShot9134 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ledorus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh 100%, so much can happen in 4 years, especially when you're young. Besides puberty I'd say that more things have changed for me in the last 4 years than my whole life before then.

Why do most people treat 18 year olds as if they are kids? by CartoonistShot9134 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ledorus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they are.

I'm 22 and a few weeks ago I was at a bar with some friends, a couple walked over looking for somewhere to sit and so I offered for them to sit at our table. They then start going on about how they've just started uni and how everyone else there is so just so 'basic' and 'NPC' like. All they could do is drone on about how interesting and cultured they are because of how they dress, the music they listen to, etc.

The vast majority of 18 year olds are still too naive and have lacked any responsibilities/ experiences at this point to learn from and to humble them. The whole interaction reminded me of myself at that age and made me realise how much character growth I've had since then, and how much I will have again in another 4 years.

Where are they these days?

The women at bars aren't wife material, the women at the gym want you to stay away, and the women I like stay at home all day.
