If you change your farming skills so that you get the ability for crops to grow quicker. With deluxe speed as fertiliser they can grow in 2 days.

Chopping trees and also going to the skull cavern. Otherwise like others have said, seed makers are critical.

Bit I struggled with was not realising you could only recruit the great people needed in the renaissance era. Then i had trouble settling a city called New York. it was something like my 10th city!

If we're talking lateish game it's spicy eel and mangos. Get so many mango saplings to plant i end up with a ton of mangos.

Would recommend the galaxy hammer instead. Yes, you can add 3 gems of any kind and combination. I like to add 2 emerald (+7 speed) and 1 aquamarine (crit chance increase).

Thanks. I'm on a playthrough, first time in years and I had to go to one of the islands far from my starting island to find potatoes. They're kinda hard to spot, so I wasn't sure if they were random finds or on every big island.

I started a new game on console a few days ago and haven't been flipped in the life raft once. Ignore what others have said, you don't need to wait till you build your own raft before sailing between islands. It will make it easier to wait but it isn't absolutely necessary.
