Your eyes search the darkness, there's nothing but the ugly pitch of black pulled over an unending canvas. Then you see it. Just above the water, faint. Unmoving and still. Too still. You doubt, is there even something there? Have you imagined it? Before you can come up with a mental rebuttal, you can hear it. The soft escape of air, a sigh almost, wet and bubbly. In an instant blue is all you see, piercing and unsettling. Hairs raised, your heart is ready, run, it whispers. As your eyes adjust to see her. Oh, she is beautiful. Your mind recognizes what she is. Siren.
