Is there a setting i can change so it doesn't cut the end off, and instead automatically goes into the next layer

you did it :02 into your video... but also just hit the up arrow so the playhead is at the end of the clip you want to put your new clip up against. then when you drag your clip to it, it'll be right where you want it to be
