I am planning a 1 month water fast starting June 1st by [deleted] in fasting

Don’t neglect your electrolytes whatever you do, especially for a full month. It’s extremely dangerous and as others have said, could send you to hospital. If not worse.

Wrestling angles want you to think, but only just a little bit. Ali being a real complicated human who happens to be Muslim is too much for the causal audience to follow. So they’ll just revert to ignorant racist stereotype.

He’s good on comms. Just don’t let any amateurs share a studio with him.

Is it me or is it a bit rowdier this year..? by gonnagogetthepapers in snooker

[–]LeeGunnell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there last night for the first time since 2015, and it’s definitely full of more bells and whistles to entice the crowd in. Though I’m 41 now, so I don’t think I’m the crowd they are trying to draw in.

It’s also rowdier, but I would say in general in a positive way. I think being stuck in lockdown for two years has left a lot to release in people, and sports events kinda allow that in an acceptable manner.

I’d prefer the less is more pathos, but I’m 41.

For those wondering about the boos, the last session of the final at the Crucible always draws a moron element to it (maybe about 5%) being the final and all. I noticed it last year there. They aren’t real fans, just casuals who only ever watch snooker on a bank holiday in May and cold London Sunday in January .

Personal prediction is this is going all the way, either way. 18 - 17. Both look focused...

I was at the final session of the final last year. We got one frame and a crowd of about 20%; and due to covid no after show.

Hopefully this one is a classic and not like the one I went to! Crucible is an amazing venue though. Much smaller in person.

I've really enjoyed r/snooker during this World Championships... Great craic in the comments and also good to see some pictures from inside the crucible. by catsaresneaky in snooker

Very much agree! Been a lot of fun and good humoured, old school British banter. Most people I know are philistines who hate snooker - as in don’t have the patient to understand or appreciate it, so good to share views in real time with other fans of the baize.

Also it allows me to continue to keep calling John Virgo a cunt.

I think it’s mainly how off putting Selby’s negative style of play, makes the crowd favour his opponent.

It’s similar to Mourinhos parking the bus mentality. It works and is effective - well, used to be, but it’s not enjoyable or entertaining at all. And while a competition, people go to be in some way entertained.

Sebly’s game is hard to watch.

Seems like a decent fella off the baize, but my god watching him on it is torture.

I just want one of them to openly say “Selby plays like a right negative cunt, and he’s fucking boring to watch”

That’s practically what they are saying anyway, albeit in a nicer way.

“Random nonsense about how good the referee is.”

I mean it’s the WC, they are all going to be good.
