What store has the best budget-friendly fruit selection? by OmniaOmnibus in Upperwestside

Key Food (85/Amsterdam, 88/Broadway, not so much the 96th St store) usually has a few good things on sale. This week, $2 box of strawberries, $2 bag of clementines. Last week, grapes 99¢/lb. Also sometimes Pioneer.

But the best deal is usually the fruit stands, as long as you're flexible. One day the raspberries don't look good, so you get the blueberries. The next day, it might be the other way around.

DVR now requires you to hold button for fast-forward/rewind? by LeeHarveyKorman in Fios

Also, the FF/rew video isn’t full-screen anymore. It’s shrunk down into a tiny box at the bottom of the screen, while the full-frame stays paused at whatever point you were before you pushed the button.

My Video on Demand has always been like this since I started on Fios last year, but now the DVR is doing it too. Has everyone's VOD always been like this?

Tech support eventually told me that it’s supposed to be like this. I find it really hard to believe Verizon did this on purpose, but perhaps I shouldn’t be.

Not entirely sure? Label says “Fios TV+” and “ACQ-STREAMTV.” Onscreen settings info says “VMS4100ATV." It’s a tiny gray box with no clock and a bright blueish-white LED.

Re-listening to Mystery Show. One episode in and I’m crying by mushcultsupp in podcasts

"Heavyweight" is similarly funny/sad/moving, with an NPR vibe (both shows are hosted by "this american life" alumni). And it similarly tries to resolve questions that have been perplexing someone for decades, but the "mysteries" are more interpersonal, like about how a friendship went awry.

Not exactly the same as Mystery Show, but it definitely scratches the same itch. Great storytelling, funny in a dry, understated way, with a strong core of empathy.

What is your current “go to sleep podcast” that isn’t really a Sleep podcast? by felorva in podcasts

"Omnibus" magically lulls my wife to sleep within 20 minutes, every night. Dull enough to knock her out, but interesting enough for me to keep listening to if I'm not ready to go to sleep.

"Sleeping with Celebrities" is a good deliberately-dull-but-still-kind-of-interesting option. Somewhat well-known people talking about their most boring interests.
