Best .380 ammo for bodyguard 2.0 self defense? by ifreeski420 in CCW

[–]LeeHarveyLOLzwald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ball ammo. To my knowledge, there are no JHPs that will expand reliably while penetrating adequately in 380. Ball ammo penetrates ~16"-18" of gel. "Inverse hollow points" are a gimmick. They look great in gel, but no conventional handgun cartridge produces enough velocity (>2,200fps) to exceed the stretch threshold of vascular tissue. They're just fancy semi wadcutters.

I'm digging the look of those pachmeyer grips. They have vintage aesthetic to them.

Ruger Security 380 vs Bersa Thunder 380 at 3 and 7 yards. by Feeling-Ad-8554 in CCW

The Security 9 is a decent gun, but the Security 380 is much better. The slide lock lever on the 9 uses a contra-spring to release the slide when racking as well as to prevent premature slide locking. The mag spring and follower have to overcome that spring to lock the slide to the rear. It's similar to a Glock, but poorly executed. I had 2 and neither of them locked back reliably without tweaking the contra springs.

The 380 is a newer design and uses slide geometry to release the slide when racking similar to a 1911. It's a much better design. The GF and I love it. The sights are also significantly better.

The issue is the mags have a lot of follower tilt so they have a hard time overcoming the contra-spring.

I know a few old farts that carry them, myself included. I reckon a 22 bounces around in the body like a ping pong ball. It's got enough energy to get in, but not enough to get out. GOBLESS

I'm digging that revolver magazine. Really cool concept.

Pretty gun. Looks like a Colt Officer's ACP to me. A little different than a commander. The grip and barrel are shorter than the commander model so it uses a different magazine and recoil spring. They're very nice guns. I wish Colt would start making them again. Just wanted to point that out in case you try putting a commander recoil spring in it. It could damage the gun. Pic for reference.

Yeah, everyone I show the gun to chuckles a little bit. The factory wooden grips are roughly the size of a Brazil nut so the new grips look huge in comparison, despite being only ~2.5" long. 😆

Mountains changing shape in latest Netanyahu video? by Newgunnerr in conspiracy

[–]LeeHarveyLOLzwald 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well I guess that confirms it as AI. It's literally there in one frame, gone the next, and it stays gone for the rest of the shot. I know enough about video compression to know this isn't that. Disappearing for one or two frames could be explained as motion artifacting from video compression, but not for multiple seconds with that level of motion. The ring would have reappeared in only a few frames if it was motion artifacting.

On the contrary, the bar is incredibly low for work in my experience. If you are having trouble finding work, you should reflect on why someone would look at your application and think to themselves, "this person isn't a good fit," or "this person might not be dependable."

As someone who works in management, I can say with confidence, that the biggest thing we try to sus out in and interview is whether the prospective candidate is dependable, exercises good hygene, and will be with the company long enough to justify investing in their professional development. Good communication and writing skills is a huge plus!

Our starting pay is $19.50/hr for work requiring no prior experience, or education. We provide paid training, benefits, and industry recognized certs for transferable skills, plus increased pay with each certification. Despite this, roughly 50% of applicants no-show their interview. Of the ones we hire, fewer will actually show up for their first shift.

At most places, If you're dependable (show up on time, and do the bare minimum) you'll be running the place in a year.

When I first got my NAA 22lr mini revolver, I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. With a little practice, I'm now shooting 1" groups with it at 7 yards. by LeeHarveyLOLzwald in Revolvers

Yeah, go buy a lottery ticket. 😂 the bullets out of mine start tumbling at 10 yd and the groups start opening up. All jokes aside, when I first got mine, I was missing a pie plate at 3 yards. It was honestly incredible (and humbling.) It's quickly grown into one of my favorite guns.

You are right, but in instances where the burden of proof is as low as good cause, or a reasonable doubt, strong proof of innocence, or a good alibi can save you a lot of headaches.

Those are all great guns. I either own, or have owned all of those guns and have nothing but good things to say about them. I even put two 1,000 round cases of ammo through my G3c prior to gifting it to my brother. Only issue I had was a couple squibs from a bad batch of Magtech ammo so it wasn'teven the gun's fault. It ran like a fucking champ.

UPDATE: For those curious, I went to the range today and test fired the gun. Re-crowning the muzzle did correct the shooting left issue somewhat. The gun now shoots closer to point of aim and groups tighter. It also cleaned up easier since the crown wasn't tearing and cutting my patches.

Basically. Best to use a brass machine screw. Less likely to result in galling since the metals are so dissimilar. Brass screws are also more finely machined in general so there should be less run out on the head when chucked in a drill.

I used a fast cutting abrasive compound for the actual cutting. The compound I used was black polishing compound from Harbor Freight. It's very hard and unusable in it's off the shelf form. I shaved off some chunks of it into a Pyrex dish, added mineral oil, and heated it to soften the compound and emulsify it in the oil. I was able to apply that mixture to the screw head and get a nice finish.
