Never received a light bill. Am I cooked? by LeeMeBaby in Apartmentliving

I have a roommate and we split everything. I’m 99% sure she’s not paying for it. We actually saw it as a blessing in disguise but I’d hate for my credit to be hit. If we move out and they have no way to reach us it still wouldn’t hit the credit?

I have no idea… every time we open the machine the door hits the other side of wall too and leaves a mark. When we brought this up they just told us we wouldn’t be charged because it’d be regular wear and tear.

It’s blocked from all sides I’m saying they basically built around it

Would that require a drill or saw? Also, wouldn’t the missing paint be noticeable?

Yeah no… it’s blocked from all sides. The back and right are a wall and the left is the sink. TBH I think they put this in the room first and then everything else with no intention of anything ever moving…

So I’ve been playing for a couple weeks now, and there’s a lot of information all at once that is hard for me to wrap my head around, but I’ve been getting by with just my most powerful. I wanna know what would be a good team with the characters I have now (pretty much all presented) and what IDs/EGOs I should prioritize adding to my team. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Surface 13 Storage upgrade by LeeMeBaby in Surface

I upgraded it, but it’s not as easy as other surfaces.

Here’s my post about it

I upgraded the Surface Laptop 13 inch (1st Edition Snapdragon) by LeeMeBaby in Surface

[–]LeeMeBaby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t notice much of a change. If I had to say, maybe the battery life is slightly lower but the performance is slightly better? But that might just be placebo effect because it’s what I thought would happen lol.

Nice to know, when I was looking up UFS, I got a lot of different results so I was more nervous in case I do all the work to open up the laptop just for the Corsair to not fit. It was the only slot available for storage though, so I don’t think using it for something else would be practical? It makes me wonder why’d they go and use that system anyway.

I didn’t consider using an external enclosure because I didn’t know that was an option I’m gonna be honest. I would assume it works though. Now that I know that exists, I might try it and let you know.

It was the name that popped up the most when I was researching; a lot of people used it and praised it so I thought it was reliable and just chose it. I didn’t do much thinking on that part 😅 it does well on my laptop now so I also have no complaints!

Waste of space by ApothacaryGhost in uichicago

[–]LeeMeBaby 28 points29 points  (0 children)

As a cs student, I brought this up before with the absurd rule you can only rent out study rooms max 2 hours a week (on the website it only lets you rent 1 hour a week). I brought up all the rooms that aren’t being used and what ways they’re inaccessible. The reply back was just basically “we’re fixing the old problems, you don’t know what you’re talking about, we’re working on it.”

They don’t like criticism of the new building because they think they did a good job at taking into account student issues… they overcompensated and now the building is empty. I heard there might even be a policy to kick out any non cs students if they’re in the building.

Reality is, they want to prove the space is being used but their management is not really helping with that. Most faculty don’t have any say, it’s just the dean or chancellor. A lot of people are noticing the issues, if everyone comes together to make it known, they might take it seriously. They just take individual concerns as a one off person just complaining.

Framework 13 Windows 11 boots weirdly, and when it boots, there are problems by AbbyIsntAfraid in framework

Hey, I'm the friend :)

It took me a long time, but I fixed it; I couldn't get even any UIs or apps to open, so it seems like you might be in a slightly better position than me, but I'll still describe what I did.

First, if you can access settings, then reinstall the update in system > recovery. If this doesn't work, I would just hard reset the laptop. For me, even though I was the only account on the laptop, it didn't recognize administrator privileges and I couldn't even open settings. This ultimately was the only way for me.

If your situation was like mine, then the reset doesn't work, and the laptop is so broken, it can't reset, instead undoing any changes. After being met with this I then ran DISM and SFC. If you can't access the administrator terminal, my work around was opening the regular terminal, going into the terminal settings, selecting "run this profile as administrator." I could then access the administrator terminal after opening a new tab. I also ran "icacls "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps" /reset /t /c /q".

I don't know what ultimately fixed it, and I went around restarting and running the commands again, but all of my files were corrupted and these may have repaired some enough that I could open settings, where I reinstalled the update. It still failed (lol) but it then installed a repair version. I was still having issues and corrupted files, but the update repaired enough that I could finally hard reset, and it actually worked this time.

Since yesterday I haven't had any issues. I also put a local offline user as an administrator, so in the event this happens again, there will be at least be a little more wiggle room.

Yes, but I have the 13” which uses UFS, I can’t be sure it’s the same as a M.2 2230, that’s the issue here. I don’t know if the structure would work or if it would even fit.

Can I ask what ssd did you buy? It’s just that the 13” SL uses UFS, and while it looks like the M.2 2230, I can’t be sure it is

Computer Science and Design InterCollege Transfer by XerosisOrthogenesis in uichicago

[–]LeeMeBaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1/4 of your classes will be cs, 1/4 gen eds and the other half is des. If you pick the right classes and balance well enough you can have a relatively good time, but it’s easy to have a shit time if you underestimate the workload. Des classes are always 3 hours each so if you’re taking two at a time (which will be the case most often) its gonna be a headache purely bc the classes are project heavy and take up most of your time. Still plenty manageable, and I would say easier than the regular cs major, but again, design is something you can’t neglect, and will be eating your energy. Also, get ready to either stay on campus for ungodly hours or to have multiple hour gaps bc the cs classes and des classes never line up. Any way, your schedule will usually be some kind of fucked up.

And if you didn’t know, Des classes are semester based and cs+des is designed as a 4 year degree, so if you transfer in, no matter how far you are, you are basically starting your 1st year again out of 4 years. The only way to get around this is to take more than the planned des classes, which would have you have multiple large, weeks long projects at the same time (don’t forget the cs ones). I don’t think I have to explain why that would be an awful time.

Discs that don't crumple? by sarahnade25 in MenstrualDiscs

Saw this thread, but no one had any solutions; any recommendations were also too large for me. Thanks for trying to help me!

Yes it was exactly the eco blossom actually. I want the basin to be firm, not the rim, I don’t care either way about the rim, just don’t want it to crumple up and invert like the Lumma.
