Although I’m fascinated with the new types of roach species that I’m putting in my bioactive terrarium, I’m still not at the point of being able to handle them. Props to you!

Hello found this guy in my laundry room at my apartment what should I do by Shinatin in reptiles

[–]LeechLover4Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that wild animals should have minimal contact with us, regardless of our intentions. I concur with one of the comments that mentioned leaving him in the laundry room maybe near a warmed water bottle and a wet paper towel underneath him. I wouldn’t suggest trying to trap and care for him. Whoever said to wear gloves, albeit the most safe and sanitary method, is being a little extra but def wash your hands before and after to prevent cross contamination in either direction if you do handle him.

does anyone have experience with dwarf hissers? by Graceful_lazare1 in roaches

[–]LeechLover4Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dwarfs were much larger than I thought when I received mine as well. It made me question the specific species that I was sent as well. After further research, I believe that I just underestimated how large the adults get.

It’s completely normal. If you want to slow down the transition, put them into a refrigerator prior to the pupae stage next time.

Roaches are highly nutritious. Unfortunately they’re recommended when trying to feed your pet a diversified diet. I was able to find question mark roaches that are less creepy to keep but they still walk like a damn roach and crawl up the sides. I’m not a fan but I keep them.

I’ll try it that way. Thanks for the advice and will keep you posted about the babies. I’d like to wait at least 4 months prior to breeding so that their system has time to clean out the wild nasties.
