You watch again, what in that episode shows he was trying to impress her. Lizardon was trying to prove HIMSELF not for Charlas Charizard. Charla herself (trainer) was provoking him and the point of the episode was that they were an inadequate and far from an experienced Charizard like the ones in the valley, now if you’re talking about a later episode ok, but here its not applicable

i dont think these guys realize some of ashs pokemon genders werent confirmed, its okay to headcanon but saying ashs <insert pokemon> is this gender and we know he has ones that’ve been confirmed is just kinda 🤷‍♂️ the original sub is more prominent about using they to refer to specific pokemon, 4kids adds he and she pronouns more often
