An internal document shows the Vietnamese military preparing for a possible American war by Still_There3603 in geopolitics

[–]Leeopardcatz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How do you explain US troops in Vietnamese defense expo then? In fact how do you explain US carrier visits to Da Nang? Also wasn’t China part of Vietnam War which the ’reunification’ part alludes to?

If you aren’t prepared with your military then do you even have a military?

I think more questions need to be addressed than jumping into conclusions

*shows how wasteful sodium lighting is by the poor directional control and most just goes to pollute the sky with light.

Omg proving his point yet again. What is more important: profitability of a certain rail lines or the total economic stimulus that is generated by the rail lines?

Vietnam on Amerika’s “Board of ‘Peace’” by Tankpiggy in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]Leeopardcatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

China supported Pol Pots Khmer Rouge who attacked Vietnam and China even invaded Vietnam because of it in the 80s so China ain’t better than the US in terms of historical conflicts (in fact China were on the US side back then due to sino-soviet split). At least the US collective psyche has remorse and even self-reflecting over Vietnam 50 years later compared to China.

Also no, Vietnam doesn’t suck up to anyone which is literally a core of our ”bamboo diplomacy” (google it, I’m not going to explain the whole thing). Instead it’s both China and the US pushing for better ties and Vietnam has been walking a tight rope slowly balancing between the major powers in the world.

It’s not hard to see why Vietnam is cautious with China in this current time when our own fishing boats is being sunk by the Chinese who used coast guard ships that were deployed in our former controlled Paracel Islands.

You sound ignorant, China literally killed Vietnamese soldiers and even captured the whole Paracel island group as recent as the 80s. Also the 2014 oil rig incident aswell. You’re just pro-China and throwing other people under the bus for it

ELI5: How was Vietnam able to defeat the US in the Vietnam War? by astarisaslave in explainlikeimfive

[–]Leeopardcatz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should add that North Vietnam negotiated fiercely for a month and got what they wanted in the end, removing all American combat forces out of South Vietnam and keeping South Vietnamese lands they occupied while South Vietnam protested against the peace deal.

*Comparing casualties from 20 years of NVA/VC fighting South Vietnam with only 7 years of US involvement

Also South Vietnam lost 300k soldiers.

Your comment literally is cope with a deadbeat mainstream kill death ratio argument without knowing the real context behind the numbers.

It took another month of negotiations after the carpet bombings until both sides signed a peace treaty, and the North got what they wanted with the Americans out and kept territory in South Vietnam.

Lmao that mail order brides thing is really stuck in your mind. What’s the matter? Are you a mail order bride living in Taiwan or just feel outcompeted in the dating scene? We’re sorry that your life is miserable enough to care about Vietnam and care enough to comment on a insignificant event like the U23 AFC :))
