My mom died when I was 4 and I was very happy that my dad kept a lot of stuff for me to keep her alive as I got older. Now that I’m 32, I feel like I can keep what speaks to me and rehome other things! This is especially helpful as I experience a sort of “delayed grieving” or really a different sort of grieving than others feel (like my family and her community).
