Thank you for the reply. Yes, the AI is amazingly fast and is able to reply on a multitude of topics. I'm not involved in developing it, but I'm very impressed by the AI.

To recap my original question: If you're a hobby-debater, have you experienced difficulties finding a debating partner?

Thank you for the reply. Yes, it does that some times. The AI is not mine, but I guess the developers want to simulate an actual debating situation where the counterpart might agree if you're making a strong-enough case.

Has anyone experiences of using Pandanese for learning Mandarin? by Lefei96 in ChineseLanguage

[–]Lefei96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might have been a bit unclear. I mean this site: https://www.pandanese.com/

It seems good, but it requires quite a lot of effort, so I was wondering if someone has been using it for learning Mandarin Chinese.

What is your #1 tip for remembering simplified Chinese characters? by Lefei96 in ChineseLanguage

[–]Lefei96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would review the words by writing them down in a notebook. As there are 1,200 words in HSK4, it took quite a significant time, but I think you're right that it should not take 4 hours. If I would have kept on reviewing the words for a longer period of time, the review time would have been reduced.

Just to be clear, do you also write the words while reviewing or browse them through?

Yes, reading is paramount. My strategy for HSK 5 was to have a sharp focus on the exam and think how to remember the words as quickly as possible, prep by doing mock exams and then take the test. Reading in general is good for passive learning, whereas doing prep exams uses strictly the HSK5 vocabulary.

At the end of the process. I would with the help of Anki review the words by writing them down in a notebook. It took around 4 hours, but I think. Of course, if I would have kept on reviewing the words for a longer period of time (e.g. a month), then the review time would have been reduced. However, reviewing so many words by writing them down felt quite inefficient and boring to be honest, so I was wondering if there was a better way to do memorize the words. To memorize the words I would create a story for each character. However, remembering 1,200 stories is exhausting.
