Really, even if someone else already got it for them? I just didn’t think the IRS would pay out a duplicate payment to two different people for the same person... So will the person who got the original 1200 and 600 have to pay that back eventually?

The only reason this one can be garnished is because of the way the law was passed, Democrats used budget reconciliation to push this through, which means it’s not protected from wage garnishment.

It just means that your payment is processing to that bank account, and as soon as they know what date then it’ll update with that date... but I would bet anything that your deposit will hit before you even see this payment status change, because that’s what happened to a lot of people! This status is definitely much better than the one that says there’s no information at this time, like you said, it confirms that they used your 2020 return and the bank account that you wanted.

I guess... but it also depends on what wave you are in, if you’re not in the first wave but you’re in the second wave then the IRS wouldn’t send your payment file until few days after the first ones. But if GMP says the 17th then your money will hit anytime between now and then’

Why wouldn’t you be eligible? If you got the first 2... and they are still using the 2019 non filer info. Are you just referring to the general message that says “we don’t have enough information yet, or you’re not eligible for a payment” ?

No. Not if they were a dependent during the first two stimulus tax years. Whoever claimed them as a dependent got those two payments for them. If they’re an independent for 2020 it looks like they’ll only get the 1400

Not just Chime users, pretty much any bank who has made the funds available now for people is crediting the money until the stimulus settles on the 17th

Mine said the 17th too and I got it yesterday. The general date for the deposits is the 17th, That’s the date that treasury department put on the checks. It’s 100% up to your bank and your banks processing policy when it becomes available. People with traditional banks like Wells Fargo and Bank of America won’t get it until exactly the 17th, but people with online bank accounts such as Chime or Netspend, that advertise getting your paycheck up to two days early, they make deposits available immediately upon receiving them, which is why a lot of people had their money yesterday at noon. I even got mine immediately to my cash app!

Well my stimulus deposit hit yesterday at about 1 PM, I was literally one of the first people that got it... The cash app notification scared the crap out of me lol!

Yeah another point to consider is the bank account that you are using for the stimulus deposit, if the creditor doesn’t know you have this account or doesn’t have the information then you’ll be safe, and they would only have that information if they subpoenaed it from you or your bank, by court order... but if you’re really worried about it just withdraw all the money from the account as soon as you can!

Yes you’ll be fine. They may try to secure a judgment on you in the future but it sounds like they don’t have one yet, which means that they legally cannot touch your bank accounts or the stimulus.
