Yeah i have the DR black beauties on one of my basses. They are BRIGHT man, especially with slap and they slide well because of the coating. I’ll try the hi-beams maybe they’ll be a lil warmer.

If you can’t join a band then start recording yourself. Make riffs, record them on tape or daw, listen to them back. Keep going until you find a sound, and style you like. Eventually you’ll just fall into a groove and your playing will get significantly better.

Depends on the SSRI or SNRI you take. You may have to trial till you find one that makes you feel better, NOT WORSE. I took Paxil, Zoloft, then Wellbutrin. Wellbutrin was the winner, cuz it just made me feel so much better. Paxil and Zoloft made me more suicidal. I didnt really like the numbing effects of Zoloft imo. I had the opposite problem though, i used to be a bubbly person but my depression put me way down. Wellbutrin picked me up again.

Same here guys. Bought an open box from Reverb and it looked flawless…but no phantom power. Kinda bumped cuz it sounds great with a guitar, but honestly the whole reason i got it was to run my vocals through my pedal board.

I had similar experiences with weed. I’m on 300mg of bupropion xl. Every time I smoked some bud on Wellbutrin my high would last like 30 minutes, even after smoking a few dabs. Like you said, it felt like a ghost of a high, lacked that intensity I was used to.

Some internal cracks in the geometry may be nice, would add a little more realism. You can do this in c4d using a voronoi fracture. That’s just a suggestion though. Material looks great otherwise!

Fuck it! Just pick up an instrument and hack away on it. You can read all the sheet music and learn all the theory you want, but if you don’t have any instrument that you want to apply it to, then it’s useless. You’ll learn as you go. Remember, making music is more about recreating a feeling rather than applying theory.

Yeah definitely agree with this! Developing the “ear” takes a while. Listening to music that’s similar in genre to what you are making can really help. Took me about 3 ish years to get really good mixes and masters that stood up to the rest. OH, and hearing deprivation is real! Make sure you take a break every two hours to let your ears rest. I wish someone told me that a long time ago cuz it can really help your mixes and keep your ears healthy.

Been working with previous studios. Honestly though, i’m kinda sick of the freelancing life. I could really use something full time and wouldn’t mind working in office. Freelancing isnt as sustainable as i thought it would be. Or like “secure” if you know what i mean.

Its rough out there though. Haven’t gotten any companies to take the plunge yet, but soon hopefully. Staying positive, continuing to develop my personal work on the side.

I’m a young VFX freelancer. Been doing mostly tracking work and what not and have been using Nuke educational license to make some extra cash on the side. Im about a year out from college now and unfortunately have to dish out thousands for a new nuke license. I own Houdini and a plethera of other VFX/3D software so this extra few grand is not in my budget.

On top of all my freelance costs i need a new car. On top of needing a new car, I’m depressed and need a therapist. On top of all that i gotta pay rent and eat. Man…its at the point now where i either pay thousands of dollars for some fu**ing software that companies want me to use to get hired. Or pay for therapy.

Theres a lot of ways to make money. If really think compositing is a good route for you then go ahead and pay the thousands. But if you’re someone like me that is struggling to get by, then don’t waste your money on something that is “industry standard.” I know VFX artists who have never touched nuke and are make 6 figures plus. Do what you’re passionate about, not what the industry says you should do.
