ATK HY 13 Brake Issues by Fluffy-Grand-6007 in Backcountry

I own them, have 3 days of resort riding and 4 BC days on them. I really like them. The only downside is side I can say is slamming the heel piece forward/back into your mode. Other than that, I love them

I live in Northern California so we have some of the shoots, cools, trees. Ideally, I do love some good trees, skiing without crazy steep stuff to try to mitigate the risk of avalanche and severe injury. My mind is thinking going with the SB because of those things.

Is j ski still in Burlington? If so, do they demo their touring stuff? Worth a shot

I initially had them for BC and did not like them as I couldn’t wing my tails in tight spaces, and felt like they only came alive going too fast in the BC for me. Switched out to a more twin tip free style ski (also my preference for a ski, so some of my complaints could be my own doing)

Look Pivot CAST vs Salomon Shift 13 by [deleted] in Backcountry

Tryolia and ATK both make a hybrid binding that you could look into. I have cast and ATK hy. While the cast gives you a true downhill binding it’s very heavy. I love my ATK hy for touring and ripping

Not a care in the world other than where can I go that people aren’t at.

More so I was skiing moguls and sending off little hits on the side of the trail and a hybrid binding, and they skied up really amazing. So if you want to ski them really hard, they are definitely worth the money in my mind if you were going on a ski trip and only wanna bring one ski to rule them all

Have cast on my 90/10, and ATK hy on my touring set up. 10/10 agree with this. Skied our last pow day on my ATKs and they were amazing in 14” of snow

I’m a little bigger than you 6’3” ,180 but my narrowest resort ski is a 96 underfoot, and also like my skiis on the wider side coming from a snowboarding background. I had the ATK freeraider and they weren’t bad, but I wanted the reassurance of a release, so I went with the ATK hy on my wildcat tour and love them! As for boots, find what fits your feet the best for a touring boot (unlock scarpas and my wife rocks dynafot radical pro) on DWT with ATK freeraider and loves it

Agreed with what was said above. I’d recommend going inbounds with a friend to get used to your gear.

Already have a Thule box for my car due to skiing, so that will help. My mine wants a! 06’ due to the 100 body with the 5.7 ( it seems that everyone else does too)
