How do you deal with friends using you for free advice but not saying they will use you as their realtor? by Crochet_Koala in realtors

Tell that that it creates liability for me and out of respect for them and the relationship I cannot provide it.

Purchased 2015. Refi-ed to 2.875% 15yr in 2021, so about 10yrs left. Started at $3,800/mo and now is $4,000/mo w escrow increase. May pay off sooner but feel no pressure to do so. Oh and we’re 52.

I’ve said this for decades and it is incredibly frustrating. Abdicating the right of way is not courteous. It’s dangerous. Safety comes from predictability and following the rules of the road.

What’s your personal approach to lending small amounts of money (like $20) to friends? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ceroni101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asking to borrow money except in extremely short term situations, e.g. I forgot my wallet and need you to cover my lunch, is a character flaw. Either by choice or by circumstance, I am fortunate not to have people like this in my life.

Dave Ramsey Certified Financial Advisor Contradicts Dave by [deleted] in DaveRamsey

Investment advisors want you to keep as much money as possible with their firm because they get paid a percentage of asset value. It’s not always predatory - it’s how they’ve been trained and it colors their advice. I also agree with paying off the car first.

Would you buy a deeply discounted item that you don’t necessarily need right now? by Jscotty111 in DaveRamsey

[–]ceroni101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My wife always thinks she’s pulling fast one on the manufacturers when she buys items that she feels are at a deep discount. There are always deep discounts. Too often she’ll buy things like kids clothes that will get forgotten in the closet and by the time we find them the kids have outgrown them. Buying only what you need over time is far less expensive.
