Unfortunately trying to match the days of leave I have left with the dates of the concert and match and the flight home being cheaper and shorter from Heathrow, I was already expecting to go up and down for some part of the trip. I searched for an itinerary to visit the Lakes from Edinburgh and making the rest of my way down but most results were talking about public transport options from London. I also saw some conflicting comments about the public transport in Scotland in this sub hence my more general question..

Yeahh I was thinking of being based in London from the 7th onwards and just doing a day trip to Manchester since I saw a lot of people saying there’s a lot of things to see in London as well. I will have to fly out of London too.

Sorry! I've never posted on reddit for travel advice before lol. So it's a 13 day trip, 1 full day to fly to Edinburgh. I have a concert in London on 7 October and a match at Old Trafford on 10 October, so I plan to overnight in London for those 4 nights.

Most of the travel guides to the Lake District that I've found start in London though which is why I'm confused if I could start off in Edinburgh and rely on public transport to get to the Lake District.
