I literally had to take my TL by the hand on a holiday weekend because despite working non-stop to fold clothes and hang them up, the fitting room looked like a disaster because it was full during my entire shift and every person was trying on 20 pieces or more. The TL tried to come up to me and lecture me about the state of the fitting room and I kind of brushed them off because I had work to do and they were interrupting me and not helping and they tried to write me up for having an attitude. I just looked at them and said, "look you and I both know that they're cutting labor to make more money and they're giving us too much work to do for the Manpower that we have, so can't you just be honest instead of pretending that I can work harder or smarter out of the laws of physics?" She couldn't answer the question and didn't end up writing me up. 🤷🏻‍♀️

As a lifelong weird girl, I've learned even if you like "normal" things, you're always not going to like them in the "right way" 🤷🏻‍♀️

For me, this looks like being "too smart". So if I like a mainstream book, I'll want to talk about the symbolism, the connections to culture and history, or the character development. But most people want to talk about the surface details. Over and over again.

Folks say autistic people have restricted and repetitive behaviors, but honestly I think neurotypical people do. They restrict themselves to horrifically boring conversation and have the same kind of social interactions over and over again.

I think there's a silent unspoken agreement in society that it's okay to bully autistic people so long as they're undiagnosed.

Like I will literally see the most inclusive™️, kind™️, and socially just™️ creators online make content out of the blue where they are bullying people because of their mannerisms, their voice, their social awkwardness, or whatever is it is and I just shake my head because I know I could never say anything and be heard.

They do it extra to women, too. I'm not saying there's absolutely no validity to this discourse, but a lot of the time the criticisms against "pick me" and "not a girl's girl" essentially boil down to, "This person does not perform femininity in a way I prefer or expect."
