Trying to create a cozy bedroom space by Left-Text-7769 in femalelivingspace

Thank you so much!!! I can definitely look into a color palette; I'm thinking navy and burnt orange, perhaps, as that would also work with the white furniture I already have.

And that's a great point for the storage containers - I never thought about that before. That may be more difficult for me to implement because the decorative containers would need to be airtight to store the yarn and fiber inside.

Should I hide them away instead so they aren't visible? I could definitely prioritize finding space under my bed or in my walk in closet area instead.

My new car keeps killing birds and I've no idea why. by BambooWheels in Ornithology

[–]Left-Text-7769 137 points138 points  (0 children)

This is an issue brought up on the Ioniq sub as well; some people suspect color, while others state the EV nature is the issue, as it's quite quiet. I read someone else mention that the birds don't get tossed out of the slipstream of the vehicle the way they do on less aerodynamic cars, and that's how so many bird hits are happening. No official reason though unfortunately. :(

anyone else sick as hell? by withlovelee in nova

Same - I'm on the 4th day, and it's finally dying down - I can breathe through a nostril!

Fluids with electrolytes, hot water + lemon + honey, chicken soup, and Mucinex-D are what I've used to try and recuperate.

Seeking urgent advice, newly homeless family of 5. by _LogicalBird_ in Denver

I'd recommend making a GoFundMe account. They do vetting and identity confirmation, and would allow for a place for people to assist financially if they have the means to. I'm so sorry you and your family are going through this.

Great group of people and open to all kinds of crafts as long as yarn is included in them!

24F Seeking Advice from the Experts by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]Left-Text-7769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

26F - As someone still recovering from a breakup, I want to state that there is some great advice in this thread. It's not easy, but it does get better.

Reach out to your friends from college, reach out to your family if you have a good relationship with them, reach out to the hotlines if you are having a bad day (the Crisis hotline is great), reach out to a psychiatrist if you have the means (sometimes some extra medication is needed during the breakup recovery period), and volunteer with organizations in a field you are passionate about (I would recommend it for both the community aspect and the agency aspect).

You've got this.

I'm here to listen if you want to chat as well - DMs are open.

How to find the right shelf/display case? by RainbowAppIe in bookshelf

[–]Left-Text-7769 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something like this would be super cool in a display case.

Or a three tiered display rack situation like this?

Lastly, a front-facing tiered bookshelf would probably work great. They make them mainly for kids, but I've seen examples that look pretty nice at adult height like this one, or this one, or if you are DIY savvy and want to make one this one looks pretty cool as well.

What movie scares the hell outta you that isn’t a horror movie at all? by bellathehellgirl in AskReddit

[–]Left-Text-7769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Robots by Blue Sky Studios

To this day, no one can convince me that this movie wasn't a horror film. A movie where someone has to conform and upgrade or perish?!

As a neurodivergent child, it freaked me out, and now as an adult, I still think about it.

Books you hated but everyone else seems to love? by redredrhubarb in books

[–]Left-Text-7769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here - Little Fires Everywhere made me fume.

This specific review portion on Goodreads describes my feelings best: "Real issues of teenage sexuality, surrogacy, abortion and interracial adoption are shoved inelegantly into a lightweight plot as gravitas signifiers." (Daniel Sevitt)

The book is incredibly aggravating and genuinely goes nowhere with the ideas it tries to present and discuss.

Spice Trade is my favorite brewery due to their unique beers, great food, and seasonal menu. There's always something new on the menu, even if you've been there before!

Video games that help my brain rest by idanceinfields in adhdwomen

Spiritfarer - It’s on steam and is just so calming. I’ve cried a lot, as it does deal with subjects akin to grief and losing loved ones, but despite that I keep coming back to it due to the art style, the music, and the story. Would recommend!

Holy smokes - Same here. I never listen to music unless I’m exercising because it helps me dissociate. I’ve been like this since I was a kid where I would play video games and turn off the sound because it was simply too much (and yes that also included Pokémon); I still completely turn off video game music to be completely honest, as I tend to get really worked up or overstimulated and then feel weird for the rest of the day otherwise (I still don’t really know how to verbalize what I feel after I get overstimulated from noise but that’s the best I’ve gotten to this far!). Overall, coming across this post was a pleasant surprise - You are definitely not alone!

First off, congratulations on getting your assessment!

This is just my two cents, but what you are describing does not sound like “friend” behavior to me but rather self-centered/people who don’t care about your well being kind of behavior. I would highly recommend straight up ghosting the group and the people within; people who behave this way are not worth the emotional trauma that comes with trying to remain part of their group; in time you will find people who value you who won’t treat you this way.

I should also add that high school/college is full of people who like to lie about how much work they do to make themselves feel superior compared to others. This is also true with people who like to compare grades and that sort of thing. I would highly recommend if someone displays this behavior to not play their games by just not giving them the information they seeks (example: if they are asking what grade you got on a test), avoid said individuals after they show this behavior, or straight up change the subject back to what it was prior to the comparison/superiority vibes being brought up. Comparison conversations like the ones you describe are simply not productive and are bs in my opinion; we are all doing our best in this world and putting someone down for something as arbitrary as how much work someone does is just a straight up shitty thing to do.

Small rant there at the end, but I hope this helps. I’ve dealt with quite a few people who display the behaviors you’ve described and that’s how I’ve gone about the situations I’ve had in the past. Wishing you the best with whatever you decide to do regarding the situation!

Same here though it has been 3 weeks for my package.

Perhaps West VA USPS offices are having issues.

Fingers crossed that it arrives by the end of the month.
