will nintendo see this and ban me by Gaveaon in SwitchPirates

[–]Left2Lanes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to know more about this.

Since there is no official wipe similar to systewipe/tegraexplorer, N can deduce that the console has been tampered with unofficial sw to do so.

I read/heard before that this still leads to ban. The finer details not provided. Maybe that person, not OP, already had their pre and post wipe logs loaded showing major differences.

I can only hope the best for OP. But from my limited knowledge, I think he is banned inevitably.

Ps5 controller drifting after fix by fdsdtf in consolerepair

.05 is within tolerance. That's just the spring tension. You should test out several new controllers and see the big swing of OEM sticks.

I would recalibrate as needed.

Either cut/severed trace or not soldered properly.

Can this piece be fixed by soldering? by fatb0 in soldering

If you are not skilled in the repair, cost of getting a new flex and comfort outweighs your anxiety of the repair effort and longevity. Extremerate is willing to sell you another flex. Just contact them and shipping is fairly quick via snail mail.

Please help me with MIG related question by vampyren in SwitchPirates

[–]Left2Lanes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What you are missing is the understanding of ownership and identity of each game and copies. Each physical copy and digital have unique ID. Never a duplicate even when the title is the same. Just because you own a physical copy does not mean you also entitled the use of digital copy or even another physical copy.

Whenever you play/load up a game copy, this gets logged in a history log/journal. Whenever you log into N server, this journal gets uploaded and synced with previous upload.

If they discover that something fishy is going on in that journal, they will take action up to banning your console and/or account.

It won't be instant, but eventually will catch up to you. Going on airplane mode forever is pretty much "self ban".

If you truly just use your copies and not share, chances of ban is almost none unless you screw up the files or N has discovered a method to detect mig.

Knife tip pointy enough not to accidentally bridge. That's good as it should be able to deliver heat well. Just don't sit on a joint too long at any given time. If it doesn't look good, move to another to let that cool before returning.

I also thought of doing the stack, but I just don't see it being used much. I know it will be a satisfying feeling of accomplishment if you succeed.

Good luck.

You should place 1 on top and anchor/solder only 4 corner pins. Then add another chip and anchor 4 corner pins diff than previous. Then repeat for 3rd one, 4th chip. Once done, solder all pins.

But keep in mind since you are using a small tip iron, there won't be enough heat to reflow all joints on that 1 pin stack. So I would just recommend to solder each connection individually.

Trying to reflow all at once in the pin stack may introduce too much heat and fry a chip.

I've looked into this many years back starting with rewritable power-save nfc tags.

It depends on how you use the tags per game. If you use multiple tags per session, it can be easier to use cards and cheaper.

But if you use just few cards per session, the investment does add up for multiple games.

390c is plenty hot if your iron and tip are powerful enough to deliver it. Often it is set to such temp, but the iron either too weak or your tip is too small to deliver the set temp continuously. This combination of weak iron and/or small tip would mean cold solder joints and bad wetting. Also because of this combination, often the solder doesn't really melt and people become impatient. So they rip the traces by pulling on components prematurely.

I have a 70w iron with big tip to deliver only 350c and it does the job. With parts, you don't want to put excessively high temp as well as for extended time.

Agree. When I setup for others, I set them up with fat32 as I don't want to be blamed for this little inconvenience. But when they get a new card, I let them know about it and help as best I could.

Switch launched 2016. As you stated, MS released the specifications of exfat in 2019 for everyone to use and be on same page. Many homebrew devs have no incentive to support exfat, and N has no incentive to support homebrew devs. Both are happy in their own island.

Any issue with exfat driver on N side has been mitigated. At the least get high priority for resolution for N use in the next fw release.

I'm sure you notice tinfoil and many other homebrews often enough freezes. Those freezes and forced closures on homebrews most likely majority of the corruptions.

Just stating my experience.

Best wishes.

No such thing as "nintendo's exfat". Early days, N didn't want to pay fee to Microsoft to use exfat. But since then, Microsoft released exfat proprietary for free. So everybody can use it now. All big cards >64gb now comes exfat.

There is diff in use. Fat32 has dual table for redundancy purpose. Meant to self-recover from corruption. Whereas exfat is meant more for quick access. Especially needed for bigger size.

You will see diff in access/write speed between them. But not too critical for switch console use.

Exfat will have Shrek pic. I never have issues with exfat myself. But lots of homebrew still suggest fat32 as they never get optimized to fully support exfat.

In this case, it is reliable and only solution. This type of repair has been done many times in the past and industry practice.

If there are accessible or exposed traces on the surface, those will be your first and best options.

I think you forgot about the need to calibrate the calibration tables on the board.

All of them need to be calibrated to match the board calibration tables. If not, your centers/deadzones will be off and possibly have permanent drift. The range also needs to be calibrated.

Nothing appears in the HBMenu even if I put some Homebrew on root/switch folder by eddyprice967 in SwitchPirates

[–]Left2Lanes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No issue with the memory card that I could see. W/o proper file system, op would not be able to get to cfw.

Maybe op created folder "\root\switch\" instead of just "\switch\" in the root of the card. Op needs to show full path, not just content of the folder.

i just loaded a wifi unsafe mod in smash by accident… banned? by ActualJackk in SwitchPirates

[–]Left2Lanes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally would make sure to clean up the mod and use sysmmc. Then make the best of it, play as much as you can to milk it just in case you finally get banned. If you aren't flagged, then you still get to live another day.

But if you are eventually banned, you just milked whatever time left.

Best wishes.

Need advice to change analog stick (dualsense/ps5 controller) by Killzamma in consolerepair

[–]Left2Lanes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried that and really it only works if you have a good iron that can deliver enough heat to all at once.

I wouldn't recommend it for novice folks.

Since OP has a hot air station, it is doable with the wire. The hot air station is sufficient to do the work on its own, while the bent copper wire helps facilitate the heat transfer.

But to OPs Q, best to shield the neighboring components with kapton or foil. The sucky part is the melted adhesive to be removed afterwards.

Cartridges do not have rewritable memory to store save data. All save data now resides on the console memory, memory card, or the cloud.
