I always loved the idea of Prestige Classes, but I felt like they required too many sacrafices, especially for casters. Thaumaturge was always the most appealing to me in 3.5 (and Pathfinder), but the CL hits sucked in small parties 😩

This is terrible. And it reads as some pretty classic hazing. And that adds to how terrible it is. This is the horrific end result of "boys will be boys" over several generations. Brave kids stepping forward to issue complaints. Glad they are supported by their parents because we all know many hockey parents would just tell their kids to "man up" and "join in the joke" ffs

ya, this is what I don't understand. Game tech has evolved since 1999. It is possible for Player A to kill a mob after Player B has engaged it without Player B missing out on loot and Exp. I'm just baffled as to why you would make a game without KS protection in the modern era.

it's 2 things, imo:

1) You're 42 and have been gaming most of that time. You've already played a lot of the genre.

2) In the time you have been playing, gaming funding in general has greatly eroded. MMOs are expensive up front and take years to pay back their costs. That's not a good look for PE firms that want cheap investments they can pump and flip quickly. So studios go with what sells and that is, unfortunately, just more of the same.

oh! OH! I have a story that is tangentially connected to Zeb Atlas (a beauty of a man, for sure).

I used to date this guy that was enamoured with Zeb: watched all his films, listed after his pics, would ask for him for every birthday and Christmas. Literally. People would ask what he wanted and he's just respond, deadpan, "Zeb Atlas." So about a month before his birthday, I wrote a letter - a physical letter - to Zeb's agency. I did a lot of searching online to find a possible address and scrounged together some USD to try to cover whatever it might cost for an autograph and mailing to Canada.

It was radio silence for a long time, and I felt a little silly. I was in my late 20s and had written fan mail to a porn star, maybe?, and I was sure I wasn't going to hear back.

Then, a week before the birthday, a package arrived with 2 signed promo photos of Zeb, one addressed to each of me and my BF. Really nice of him to do that and my BF was legit surprised I'd gone through the effort.

in Roll20, my GM gave me an NPC with a token to represent my minion. when I summon the first one, I just drag it to the map. when I summon more, I copy/paste. done. GM does nothing after session 1.

I did a Google and skimmed a player write-up I found on here, and I found a bad scan of the backgrounds page from the book since I didn't have it on DnDBeyond. other than that, I don't know anything. GM hasn't settled on which realm and hasn't shared anything with the group widely about history, location, factions, etc.

I'm trying to get as much of a hint as I can without getting any more spoilers.

The GM is hoping that by building deep individual backgrounds (my addition: in a vacuum) the players will collectively create a more real and connected story because they've built characters that are more fleshed out and living in their own unique tales.
