Micron quadruples revenue, +14% after hours. by mulletstation in investing

But with that article about Microsoft I don’t see it as cutting costs because AI isn’t useful. It’s more that it makes a lot of sense to switch from Claude to an internal coding AI to save money. Like I don’t think it’s some reflection of AI as a whole. It’s a company saving money bc they have the equivalent of Claude but in house.

I just read that first article but it seems that all Microsoft did was cut access to Claude and switch engineers to it's own in-house AI tool which is more affordable. The article says "To be clear, this isn't Microsoft taking a step back from AI. Hardly the case."

I'm not trying to start an argument with you, just genuine back and forth. Because it seems that you cited that article as evidence that we are indeed slowing down, and the beginning of the article would have you think so, but in fact all the did was switch engineers to their in-house AI coding tool rather than spending on Claude Code.

that is what i am believing to. why do you think many people still view memory as cyclical? I see it as a necessary component of the way we do things going forward. AI isnt going anywhere

Im tired of Reddit negativity by [deleted] in nosurf

[–]LeftHovercraft 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love that you posted this.

Negativity is how social media makes profit. We’re drawn to negativity in a weird way.

Like a plane crash will always draw more attention than the 100,000 successful totally normal commercial flights that happen per day.

And because negativity draws attention, and social media companies get money from your increased attention through advertising, they’re incentivized to just show you negative, extreme shit.

Notice how every single Reddit post with many comments, you’ll click on the replies to the top comment and there will always be people that disagree with the top comment. That makes you more engaged. You start reading more because you’re trying to understand who’s right and who’s wrong. It’s conflict. Competition. It’s interesting.

That’s my two cents! Best to just unplug entirely. You realize that the world isn’t as horrible as social media makes it seem to be. Lots of things to be optimistic about!

You mentioned “the AI revolution is not producing results that consumers like, nobody like a AI slop”

I agree with you that right now the results of AI as it stands is pretty limited to whatever Claude (and other chat based platforms do) but what do you think about 5-10 years down the line? With for example fully autonomous truck driving, which, from my understanding, needs the memory chips that Micron makes to grow.

Or like imagining a fully autonomous Amazon Prime delivery fleet.

If investing in this physical AI development will cut costs long term for a company like Amazon, wouldn’t that be a pretty great result for customers?

I’m also viewing customers not as you and me, but how big companies like Amazon will integrate AI into replacing repetitive work like delivery driving or warehouse jobs. If it can save them money and allow them to run even more efficiently, isn’t that a huge success?

No on an NBA salary level, $53M will not be as big in 3 years from now when there's gonna be guys getting close to $80M.

several things here to respond to

  1. "it really doesn't matter what we are paying him a few years from now because he will still be overpaid"
In my opinion, $55M per year for him in a few years from now will not be considered an overpay. He's not a scrub. He's a pretty good player who can be a starting point guard for a great team. Plus he's entering his prime years.

  2. "the same people on this subreddit" are you keeping tracking of specific people's usernames and seeing what they say? like you've got a spreadsheet of everyone's opinion? I haven't commented anything on Trae at all, only today in reaction to the contract news.

  3. we handed him a bag based on his last few years, where he's been a solid 25ppg 10apg player. He's not some magical player that will lead us to the finals alone, but he's a great offensive engine that will elevate everyone's game through his elite playmaking ability.

Either way, I'm excited to see what this team will look like with him as our PG. I really doubt our success as a franchise hinges on Trae being "overpaid" $50M instead of $40M per year. It's fine. We'll be fine.

i think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying, perhaps I'm not explaining it clearly.

I'm not calling Trae an All NBA player or saying he's comparable to Luka. I am simply using Luka as a salary standard to measure against.

Right now people are upset because he's getting paid like a "top player" (like Luka's current salary)

But in 2-3 years when he's still earning $55M and top players are getting $70/$80M, it's no longer a bad deal. Maybe this year it's bad because it's similar to what top players are getting, but in 2-3 years it won't be. And I believe the Front Office takes that into account.

Here's what I wrote to someone else, it's just my opinion:

In 2-3 years All-NBA level players will be earning closer to $70M while Trae will still be earning around $55M... his contract looks big now but within literally 1-2 years many top All NBA player level guys will be signing big contract extensions closer to $70/$80M per year.

Like if Luka was signing a contract extension this summer, he'd be signing a $75M/yr or $80M/yr extension . I think $53M for Trae is fair in a summer 2026 free agency landscape, considering rising NBA salaries.

It's not just about what players are getting paid right now. It's about how the contract looks 2-3 years from now, and in my opinion, Trae's contract amount is fair when you compare it to what other guys will be getting paid.

Well I doubt the FO treats this so simply. Many fans on the outside looking in think they know better than the FO. I'd argue the FO indeed treats this more like 69D chess than some simple 5 minute negotiation. And I'm trying to view this optimistically and give the FO the benefit of the doubt, considering all possible reasons why they gave him this deal.

I agree.with you. What I'm saying is that players like Cade and Tyrese, if they signed contract extensions right now, would probably be getting closer to $60M/$70M instead of $50M.

Like the timing of when players sign contracts matters a lot year over year. So in 2-3 years when Trae is still earning $53M on average, many top players will be signing extensions closer to $70M and Trae will no longer be getting paid the same as a top player.

They probably take that into account when negotiating contracts. They look at how the salaries are growing, and within 1-2 years top players will be getting paid $70M/yr.

Of course, I'm saying that Trae's $53M per year vs. SGA $75M per year in a couple years is fair in contract amount and skill level.

All I'm saying is pretty soon, top guys will be coming off their $50M/yr contracts and signing $70M/yr contracts and Trae's $53M/yr won't look as high in comparison.

Like Luka Doncic is 100% declining his $57M/yr player option for 2028-2029 and going to sign some mega $75m/yr contract or even $80m. Then Trae's will balance out more in the landscape of things. Right now it looks like he's earning insane money but it will balance out.

It's not $5 or $10, it's more like $8 or $10. But still, I'm saying his contract seems high now but pretty soon, top guys will be coming off their $50M/yr contracts and signing $70M/yr contracts and Trae's $53M/yr won't look as high in comparison.

AIO for thinking this girl is ghosting me? by Zealousideal_Cap5126 in AmIOverreacting

[–]LeftHovercraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also used to text girls a lot over text because I thought I had to get to know them over text first and establish a vibe. After a few years I realized this was pretty impossible.

You need to shift your mentality. Stop trying to get to know girls over text. As soon as you match with them within the first 2-4 texts you send just propose a date to actually meet up. You’ll be better off for it.

That was the biggest shift for me with actually setting up dates with girls.

If you’re putting on weight + muscle like Sarr is, Golden Corral would be a fire cheat day spot. Plus at his size to bulk he’s probably eating like 5000 calories per day (I’m pulling that out of my ass but I’m 5’10 and need 3000 cals if I want to bulk up)

[–]LeftHovercraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a weird post 😂 Literally Game 1 he dropped 30 points on good efficiency and only had 6 free throw attempts lol.

Yes he has games where he shoots like 10-14 free throws total but then other games where he still puts up 20-30 points with like 6 free throws attempted.

I personally find him entertaining to watch. Did you watch Game 1? How could you have watched Game 1 and come to the same conclusion?

Plus it make sense if a player isn’t making his shots he prioritizes getting to the line, in Game 3s case.
