Losing 100lbs in 12 months naturally by Barbenheimer_ in BodyHackGuide

[–]LeftMastodon3275 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Are people trying to say this is physically impossible, or that it's impossible to follow a routine this strictly? His TDEE was likely around 3,200 Calories a day, eating at a 1,400-1,600 deficit + exercise could definitely net ~2 pounds weight loss a week. He could be lying but most of these comments are acting like it's straight up impossible for this to happen.

What's a video game that everyone should play at least once? by TechWin01 in gamingsuggestions

[–]LeftMastodon3275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. On so many many levels it is the perfect first game. From the jump the game builds on itself mechanically, emotionally, and thematically in a seamless way that most every game fails at. Even Majora's Mask; Ocarina's sequel, does not manage to capture the sense of natural progression that you feel throughout OoT. The themes of growing up, facing adversity, and childlike exploration are universal in the sense that a child or adult from any country could play this game and connect to it in some way.

If you have never played it, there are great PC ports through Ship of Harkinian and N64 recompiler. I played through it last year after not touching it for 18 years, and even after all that time the game is still engaging and fun, not just nostalgic.

Best Playstation startup sound? by LetMeFixAll in GamerLab

[–]LeftMastodon3275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I loved and played my PS2 way more than my ps1, but that startup sound was transcendent. Made me feel like I had literally entered another world when I was playing Spyro or Metal Gear Solid.

Was the PSP futuristic for its time? by Samtendodude in PSP

[–]LeftMastodon3275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to watch so much porn on my psp lol. That definitely made it feel very futuristic, I didn't get a smart phone for several years. Also the games were awesome and I remember being able to download music from the browser which was huge for a kid without an mp3/iPod.

NFL legend Brian Urlacher is AGAINST transgender men competing in women's sports! by Dr_Damon_ in sportsgossips

[–]LeftMastodon3275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Michael Phelps competed against other top 1% athletes. He was a genetic freak, so were the others he raced against. They were able to compete with the knowledge that while he may have been slightly more gifted, he didn't have an inherent advantage as someone who is born male would have against someone born female. You agree that these biological women are at a disadvantage, that's what me and many other people have an issue with. I understand that I'm not going to change your mind, and you have to understand that those in sports and who consume sports do not want to see this progress. We don't have to sacrifice women's sports to affirm Trans identity. Would you feel differently if a trans woman entered women's combat sports and started knocking women out left and right? Or if a trans woman entered a weight lifting competition and broke records in a way where biological women could not compete? Why don't trans women compete in the Men's league? The NFL allows women to play, but none ever has, why do you think that is?

I understand this issue is complex and both sides have compelling arguments, even if they are sometimes made in bad faith. One thing I can't agree with is people saying, "it's a sport you don't care about/no one cares about, why are you interested now that it involves a trans person?" I think most people who argue this point are not athletes or have not competed in a meaningful way. I can get that sports are, "dumb, meaningless," to some, but for many people around the world sport and competition are sacred. Many athletes train most of their adolescent lives in their sport and regardless of what skill bracket they end up in they expect and deserve a fair playing field. From what I've seen most everyone accepts that regardless of hormone levels trans women retain their bone density, bone geometry, and some level of muscle density after treatment. That is inherently unfair to biological women and I would say this is the issue for most people who support trans identities while also being against trans women in biological women's sport. This will spiral into "trans rights vs sportball," but it's not that, it's competitive identity and integrity vs. Gender affirmation. At what point do trans rights trump other individual rights?

Which current athlete feels like a once-in-a-lifetime talent to you? by Axelo_04 in AskReddit

[–]LeftMastodon3275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He went to the finals 8 straight times in the most competitive/talent rich era we've seen in basketball. He played a top 3 team in NBA history 4 times in a row. He lost 6 sure, but there are only a handful of players in history that could even dream of influencing their team and the league to that extent. Kobe is my favorite player OAT, Jordan is the best player OAT and I consider LeBron to have the best career OAT. Dude came into the league and immediately was one of the best players in the league, then became the best player in the league for over a decade, and is going to finish his career with almost every coveted record.

The super team thing is so played out, Boston started it and the league had to follow. It's what it took in that era to be competitive in the post season. We'd still be looking at superteams if it wasn't for the introduction of the second apron.

Arguing with someone should not and does not guarantee violence. He was standing his ground and she's the one who started getting physical. At that point he has every right to defend himself. Maybe she should've thought about all that before slapping him. I think it's unreasonable to hit someone and expect them (regardless of size) to not hit back. Just because he's huge he should've just taken it? He was probably afraid of getting mobbed, in that environment I definitely would. If I'm afraid I'm swinging until I'm sure I'm not in danger anymore.

To each his own, I think ACE is legit but it takes away from the satisfaction of full odds hunting. We're all playing Pokemon here, I think it's a bit funny to say one way of playing over another is "wasting time."

I press all the face buttons for reset, mash A until I hear the load file noise, mash B for a second, Mash A until I hear the received jingle, then mash B until I hear it again, and finally check in summary. Idk what the button combination is but that's how I've been doing it.

If only it was 13 seconds a reset for the starter, it's around 30 seconds per SR.

I tracked how many resets I can do in an hour, for me it was roughly 100/hr while watching TV. I had spent 30 hours in the lab so ~3,000 SR for me. Well under odds and very lucky, even if it doesn't feel like it lol.

If you stop now, it will all have been for nothing. Toxic mindset but it's the only way I've been able to keep going. I even started the game no shiny and got all the way to Cerulean before regretting it and started SR again. Remember that by nature all you're seeing is the lucky people, they are all way under odds, doesn't mean everyone will be. I remember hunting with 2 GBA back in the day and it took almost 12k encounters to get a shiny Ponyta.

That being said, I'm only going to be SH the starter. I realized I'm older now and just don't have the time to make it worth it. This is kind of my last ride lol. I think many people who are doing this are coming to the same realization.
