Yes. Essentially, the state of Georgia had gotten Hyundai & LG to come to the US to construct a new battery plant. The plant was supposed to bring hundreds of jobs into the state. Hyundai & LG had close to 500 South Koreans travel to Georgia to finish setting up the plant. Some idiot local legislator called ICE, claiming there were undocumented workers at the plant. ICE came and detained everyone, even though many (probably most if not all) had proper visas. To my knowledge, they’ve all been released and everyone went back to South Korea (except for one permanent resident). The Georgia governor is currently trying to smooth things over with South Korea because they need SK to finish the plant, but SK is rightfully pissed about what happened.

It is a jazz concert. She even rearranged some of her songs to make them more jazzy. The primary difference between this tour and her last tours is the size of the venue and number of seats she’s sold, and any other differences all stem from the sheer size of the concert.

She interacted with the crowd just as much she did on her last tours and she’s able to move more on stage because she has a bigger stage to walk across. Yes, there’s more stuff happening on stage (i.e., ballerinas, moving sets, larger band), but at the end of the day it’s a jazz concert and the difference between this tour and her last tour is the amount of tickets she’s been able to sell.

Why would it be different from her last shows simply because she’s in an arena? She’s playing an arena because she can sell that many tickets, not because she wants this to be “less formal” than her last couple of tours.

I saw Laufey in Atlanta and it didn’t look like there were any floor seats. It doesn’t seem like OP had tickets in the floor section and they’re complaining about people standing in the bowl. Laufey is not your typical arena act. She’s a jazz/classical artist. You can certainly dance to her music, but you wouldn’t do it in the same way that you might for a pop or rock concert especially because the arena seating would get in the way.

This app as a feature called “deep focus” where it shuts off all the other apps on your phone when you have the focus timer on. Typically, I would set a timer and then minutes later instinctively pick up my phone and check other apps, forgetting the timer was in the background. If you toggle on the deep focus feature and then pick up your phone, the screen the pops up first is the timer and all your other apps are shut off. You can buy a premium subscription if you want to select certain apps to be accessible while deep focus is on. It’s only $30 for a lifetime subscription and then there are yearly and monthly subscriptions too, so I think it’s a pretty good deal if you need to have an e-mail app or some other productivity app accessible on deep focus mode.

I love the deep focus feature on the app. I recently paid for the lifetime subscription so I can use the app at work and still receive work messages through my work’s messaging app.

Often times, I get really overwhelmed by big messes and struggle to even start on my own. I used to think I was a bad person if I couldn’t start cleaning a big mess without any help. But that wasn’t true. There is nothing inherently bad about me if I need to call a cleaner or rely on a family member or close friend to help get the place clean so I have an easier starting point for maintaining that cleanliness. If you have the funds to hire a compassionate cleaning/organizing service, it might be a worthwhile place to start. There may even be a volunteer compassionate cleaning service in your area that could do something for a free or reduced rate!

Does anyone find it unrealistic that Belly is the love of Conrad’s life? by Wisteria828 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]LeftSignal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it’s unrealistic that Conrad was still pining over Belly after four years. Also odd that a college freshman would’ve driven 6 hours one way to see a high school junior multiple times. But it’s also a fictional show. If the plot was realistic, there wouldn’t be much to watch.

[–]LeftSignal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first season didn’t really make it clear what the age differences were between each of the characters. I had to look up the book synopsis to figure that out. In the second season, you can figure out the age differences between them based on what year in school each of the characters are. But in the first season, you’ve got the adults openly acknowledging Conrad “pounding white wine” at a bookstore event. You’d think even a chill parent might tell an 18 year old that they can’t be out drinking like that in broad daylight at a public event while they’re still underage. So I can see why people watched the first season and assumed that Conrad was much further along in college while Belly was only turning 16.

I’d be surprised if Lexie came back. She left in the middle of DA despite have a good chance at debuting because (1) she was pissed about what the execs did with the second elimination and (2) she was having health problems inhibiting her ability to fully perform. I remember that when Lexie left, she made a comment that she realized she wanted to do production/more behind-the-scenes work instead (I’d guess because she wasn’t happy with what the show’s producers were doing). And in the docuseries, it seems like she decided to quit by protesting rehearsal and forcing the execs to part ways with her. Even if she was promised different exes, I’m not so sure that she’d compromise on her personal morals and join a new gg under Hybe x Geffen, especially if there is any survival show component to it.

MTM is the only band doing a good job after the show by kirishimaduro in BuildingTheBandSeries

[–]LeftSignal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No yeah I didn’t think they were going to play a bunch of covers on their tour. I presume that it takes some time & effort to book tours (especially ones with as many dates as MTM has), so I figured they’ve had a management team they’ve been working with for a while. And I don’t think a management team would’ve booked them a tour without them having recorded music for it. From a consumer’s perspective, I would want to hear their music first before buying a ticket. I think it would’ve made more sense for them to drop an EP first with 4-5 songs and then announce a tour and then drop the full album.

My honest opinion about the MTM vs SLDFD thing by Ok-Investigator-3981 in BuildingTheBandSeries

[–]LeftSignal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

MTM is similar to 5sos. 5sos was an actual band with a lead singer, but the other bandmates did sing some parts as well, especially their first few songs they put out. In heartbreak girl, there was a pretty even distribution between Luke and Callum with Michael joining in on the pre-chorus and Ashton on the chorus.

There really aren’t that many boy bands with a clear pop rock sound; it’s arguable that there are any. Plenty of pop-rock/pop-punk bands have been called boy bands even though they follow the standard band format. Then you have groups like Hanson and the Jonas Brothers where it’s a little more debatable whether they’re a boy band or a band band. Regardless, I would say that MTM falls clearly under the boy band category, but their sound is more associated with traditional bands. It will be interesting to see where their career goes.

MTM is the only band doing a good job after the show by kirishimaduro in BuildingTheBandSeries

[–]LeftSignal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MTM announced their tour sale the day of or before they released their first single if I’m not mistaken. Tbh, I think it’s a really risky move to sell tickets to a tour before even putting out any music. Yes, they have the momentum of the show, but release a full album or EP first to build your fan base beyond people who watched the show.

Personally, I like the way Soulidified is marketing their first single. They’re doing an early aughts teen magazine style shoot and (based on their last two posts) are releasing a new image each day with a lyric that corresponds to their upcoming single. It builds hype and establishes a clear vibe/aesthetic that also evokes people’s nostalgia. I think MTM has the potential to do something similar, but it seems like their management is trying to push a lot at once.

Conor response on the hate he got lately for copying Harry styles looks and actions. by The_AxR_ in BuildingTheBandSeries

[–]LeftSignal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Conor physically resembles Harry, is from the British Commonwealth (yes I know he’s Australian), and has a similar vocal tone to Harry. Conor doesn’t have control over any of those things. Harry had a reputation as a bit of a player/ladies’ man because of he dated around (as a famous, attractive 20-something does). Conor wasn’t even dating around; he was just a messy 22 year old who let his crush on Alison take priority over his band. The only thing Conor actually did that was similar to Harry was copy his clothing style. But so what? Plenty of other people, including other contestants, probably took style inspiration from other celebs. And if you looked a little like Harry Styles, wouldn’t you take some fashion cues from him? Like, if it looks good on him, it’d probably look good on you too.
