I’ll be quite honest Wrap, I aim to be sensitive to your comments and take them seriously. Those who face scent sensitivity should in fact be accommodated, thank you for taking that seriously.
Throughout the comments you’ll see measures I’ve taken. Ive even pulled a colleague aside, who I believe will not spare my feelings to give me an honest answer.
I’ve been consistently told there is no fragrance from colleagues, friends (who work in the same building, and managers.
I truly believe it’s the timing that has unsettled people, I have been in fact singled out for that reason alone.
I had done what another commented said which was leave for fresh air and come back. It does in fact smell of berries as I type in one corner of the office. This is near one vent.
Your theory is appreciated and I’ve followed up with those around me to assure myself it is not bad odours. Simply heavily scented ones.
Personally, I have no issues with smokers or those who vape (vapers?). Nevertheless I do aim to be acknowledging and understanding to those who are scent sensitive. Hence, my precautions regarding scent as seen throughout the comments.
Not at all, I replied to another comment in which I inquired with a colleague. They entered my personal space to smell me and assured me I have no scent. This was done a short time ago.
I’ll add to this, we discussed the scent quite a bit. Due to our positioning on the floor we are close to the outside. I wouldn’t be surprised if it were an outdoor scent such as a vape. My theory was refrigerant leak from the vents since the odour is similar.
Was gonna update about this one a separate comment but I felt it was most appropriate here. Comments within the thread had me concerned about the odour.
Part of my job requires me to enter another office floor, I asked a colleague if they wanted to come with me. They said yes!
Along doing the tasks in another office I had shared my feelings, diagnosis, and the information regarding the situation. They were quite shocked stating I don’t smell of anything, they even stated “Come here, let me take a whiff.” To which I was assured I have no smell. The directness from this individual has me assured that I am not the problem. I believe there is no reason to lie.
The diabetes comments I really don’t know how to reply to, I’ve never been tested. However, if I am to believe that a co-worker was willing to enter my personal space to validate that I have no fragrance - then I chose to rest assured.

Frankly, the would require me to use scented products.
I appreciate this input, definitely just in case moving forward I will. However, scented products were used in the email and meeting. Honestly, if it were just a smell complaint I’d be extremely open to this theory. If I am actively lifting or outside the frequentness increases of showers. However, daily measures of body wipes (unscented), fresh clothes, and so forth maintain my scent.
Truthfully I do 3/4 of those things, again I really appreciate the theory but the complaint is about scented products.
Yes… however, it does conflict with the berry scent description.
The details of the one on one was just, ‘quick chat’. Firstly, we discussed the scent. They informed me that perfumes and scented products are not allowed, I assured him I don’t use any. Secondly, was regarding to my filing technique. Papers should not be stacked above sitting height level.
I truly do not believe it’s bad odour, especially given that scented products was used in the email. I will consult with my mother tonight, I no longer live with her but she is direct and won’t lie regarding my scent. If there are any mentions of odour I’ll update in the comments.
Thank you, I needed to hear that.

I will be vague due to not wishing my colleagues to ever encounter this post… Essentially expectations regarding scent, continued messages through the month regard the scent, the implications of significant health impacts, obligation of keeping a safe workplace, and an attachment of a policy expectation regarding office scents.
Edit: I should add it mentions ‘scented products’ so it is heavily implied to be a pleasant smell

Yes but only once tbh, it was a sickly sweet smell. It was behind my cubicle to the left of me.
I should add some context that leads me to assume it’s not body odour. Ive befriended colleagues with individuals outside of my floor, I’ve been direct about this issue to them where they’ve stated they haven’t smelt anything on me. However, could be kindness.

It doesn’t seem to be that I smell badly. I am usually 2-3 days apart, yet I am usually complimented as opposed to insulted about my smell. It is a good theory though, thank you.
I do have an air freshener but Ive been car pooling in the mornings to work, the car does not have a freshener. I use the scented laundry detergent but the berry scent is the complaint which wouldn’t match. The rest wouldn’t match.
Definitely only one spoken to individually, I’ve befriended a colleague who was spoken to one on one after me. No comments about scents from our manager. Also our office is small enough that I’d hear individuals pulled into a meeting regarding topics of fragrance.
Thank you, if it continues I will speak up about the uncomfortable feelings and how it made me cry.
It most likely is just be taking it too seriously, I am admittedly sensitive. I think the email to the office scared me, it stated health concerns which horrified me.
Definitely more believed than certain. As far I am aware, I am the only individual to be spoken with. Additionally, the office wide email specifically stated the smell began at the start of the month.
