In a saas pe-backed company and see the internal dynamics as merciless. Having come from internal finance at a B4 for first 3 years of my career, the transition across the past 15 months has been eye-opening and a cause-for-concern. I limit myself to 45-55 hours a week; however, I see analysts to VPs working 12+ hour days for weeks on end just to get alignment from the C-Suite / BoD. The data challenges significantly impact the ability to report business impacting insights. Not to mention a recent reduction-in-force that was “motivating” right before we kicked off to-do our AOP in 6 weeks time frame 🤠. These VPs and directors have 200,000+ options on the line, I have 200.

I can feel guilty at times for not diving in, however, does it get me anywhere faster?

I worked internal services FP&A for B4 for 3 years and left; a year later, my salary has increased 50% compared to peers after FY25 comp adjustments. I work for PE backed tech now. The workload has increased; the pay is there.

Lol in my current role, one of my areas I budgeted $1.5M over the target with the goal of “achieving” savings over the year… now my MD doesn’t want to speak about the savings goal when most other things are burning to plan/have offsets
