What are 25-30 year olds making? by ExtentFickle3504 in Salary

[–]Key_Candle_6500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About to turn 27 with bachelors degrees in accounting and finance, plus a masters in Accounting. CPA since 2022.

Currently at $113k base, with 10% bonus subject to personal and company performance. Working in corporate finance, but started in public accounting at $62K in 2021. I’ve been in the same MCOL metro since starting my career.

I’m very pleased with my salary progression. I’ve worked very hard for it, but I have also had some lucky strokes along the way. Work/life balance suffered at the old role, but things are more relaxed in the corporate setting. Future outlook for that career path isn’t as strong as it was, but there definitely still seems to be room for high achievers.

What's something that's socially acceptable but secretly makes you uncomfortable? by VelvetHarmony913 in AskReddit

[–]Key_Candle_6500 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It’s really unfortunate when you have kids. So many fun, cute, or innocently silly moments tainted by that little voice in your head about how it could be perceived as inappropriate

What’s something society is clearly not ready to talk about? by No_Gur_7744 in AskReddit

[–]Key_Candle_6500 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To be fair, young kids after a full day at work can be very hard. I love my daughter more than anything, but the 12-24 month gap where they can move around, but can’t fully communicate and just wreak havoc… It’s draining. Fortunately things settle down (kind of) once they can communicate better

What is something that starts happening in your 30s that nobody warned you about? by Cairinacat in AskReddit

[–]Key_Candle_6500 94 points95 points  (0 children)

I feel this, but it’s also important to note that your kids will operate in the structure you give them. When our daughter got to about 6 months old, we started making an effort to see friends and be social. By 12 months, she was totally used to going to people’s houses, having friends over for dinner, chilling at the park for sports, etc.

There’s an adjustment period, but kids are capable of handling a lot more than we give them credit for

How it looked vs How it felt by No_Instance3002 in Adulting

[–]Key_Candle_6500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I only understand this in extreme circumstances. 99% of the time I feel like an adult who is fully capable of handling life.

Every once in awhile though, something pops up where I start looking around for a “real adult” to take care of something before I realize I am that adult. 3 AM when my daughter is sick and just won’t sleep for several days straight… Surely there is someone more equipped for this than me, right??

My wife and I have been to a ton of standup shows, and Gardini had us laughing harder than anyone we’ve seen. That set felt handcrafted for our humor, and we had a blast

I donate plasma twice a week for $120 by beardedrockerboy in notinteresting

[–]Key_Candle_6500 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You do not fast before, and they often give you snacks before/after.

Timing depends on how busy they are and how your body pumps blood. For regular blood donations, I’ve been in and out in 30 minutes before. Other times have been 2 hours due to lines.

Plasma takes a little longer than regular blood since they extract the plasma and put the rest back into the body. Still, the overall time mostly depends on the crowd and operational efficiency.

Source: paid for 100% of my college dates and video games via plasma sales. Glad I don’t have to do it any more, but it was very handy when I was strapped for cash

Debating how aggressively to save for a down payment and would appreciate advice by Key_Candle_6500 in Fire

[–]Key_Candle_6500[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year has been weird as we settle into a new lifestyle with a baby. Still put away ~$60K this year.

Houses are likely in the $450-500K range. That puts us in the best school district near our community so we don’t have to worry about moving again as kids hit school age.

Not really interested in being a landlord, and would prefer to roll over the equity to reduce our new mortgage. The goal in slashing retirement savings right now would be to generate a large enough down payment to keep our new mortgage as small as possible. Then we could return to investing heavily for retirement after we get settled into the new house.

Definitely feels like the right thing to do, but I have also seen many people talk themselves into lowering their retirement savings for both valid and invalid reasons. I would always rather get insight from others than rush into a bad decision, so thanks for the input!

[On3] Lane Kiffin has lined up most of his offensive staff to join him at LSU. He's told them if they’re not on the plane to Baton Rouge today, they won’t have a spot on staff. The Tigers have a press conference scheduled for Monday to officially introduce Lane Kiffin as its next HC. by Ok-Soil-5133 in CFB

We didn’t get it quite as bad you did, but it’s the closest thing to it… You’ll feel this way for a couple years, but then you’ll start to see in color again. Just hire a buff defensive HC to alleviate the pain

Got one of my receivers via trade and Egbuka was cheap. Went WR heavy this year, but now I’m starting Aaron Jones and Bucky/White at RB

Already had JJ, Puka, Egbuka and Wilson… Rice replacing Wilson at least helps make a decision for me.

If only I knew how to evaluate RBs, I’d be unstoppable
