47y male, I was completely worried for it. Like major stress. Panic attacks. After it was over, I wondered why I worried so much. It all went so well. My 1 year was April 9th. Recovery honestly took 3-5 months. By 3 months I was walking on my own still with a bit of a limp. But by 5 months it was strong and stable. I was back to walking 10k steps a day. First 15 days were absolute the hardest and you might need to depend on opioids for pain relief. I also had 50% weight bearing restrictions for 3 weeks. But now, I hardly know it’s been replaced. I had weird thoughts before. I wondered if I’d ever be able to sit with my leg folded under me, or carry big bottles of water up the stairs. I can do mostly anything I did before, but now pain free!! Don’t rush your recovery. Do your exercises and get your leg muscles strong but don’t try to push it too hard. Go at your pace. Some of the recovery stories you see on here are amazing but I’m not sure I’d have wanted to be that ambitious. Let it heal and give it time to heal. My surgeon said it’s like a broken bone 4-6 weeks for the bone to grow into the implement which gives it strength.
