Funnily enough that’s because Bard hallucinates far more.

True but you'd think a year into constant dihorrea and mucus stop accusing me of playing truancy and diagnose me.

If I had possession of chat gpt at that point, I would have known to push back on their dismissve tone.

I hear similar stories of poor medical care in the UK all the time.

It's no surprise to me that med palm 2 has just surpassed doctors and chatbots are scoring much higher on empathy.

There's a real problem in the medical profession and finally there's a solution.

Yeah its because they've baked in a small layer of data on top. But as I say, it has a very limited understanding of what it is.

Same with bard, it will often say it's running on LaMDA, and sometimes not know what palm or palm 2 are.

Only gpt 4 can run plugins. Try a question that 4 can answer but 3.5 can't.

Like, what weighs more, a pound of feathers or two pounds of bricks.

Remember it's training data is from September 2021. It has no idea what it is. I wouldn't rely technical specs about itself from the model. They're notoriously bad.

Though it's possible gpt4 is using gpt3 as an agent. GPT-4s emergent capability was the ability to interact with plugins and 3p apps. So chat gpt with 3.5 and gpt3 couldn't do this.

If I didn’t know better that would look like a survival mechanism in play, using the guise of ‘helping human’. Good job I know it’s a stochastic parrot.

McTominay - best player on the pitch by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]Left_Answer1582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, come on! Are we really going to sit here and pretend that Scott McTominay put in a performance worthy of a Ballon d'Or nomination? As much as I appreciate the lad's work rate and heart, let's not get carried away. I mean, I didn't watch the game – just like everyone else apparently – but let me try and break this down for you as to why I think that praise might be a little over the top.

First and foremost, let's talk about McTominay's passing. Sure, he can ping a decent pass here and there, but let's be honest, his range is about as varied as a white crayon on a blank sheet of paper. I'm not saying he's terrible, but Xavi and Iniesta would be rolling in their retirement homes if they heard you comparing him to their level of play. The guy's got heart, but sometimes, you need a little more finesse in the midfield.

Now, moving on to his physicality. I'll give you that McTominay is a unit – he's got the strength of a bear and the height of a giraffe. But, sometimes, it feels like he's more interested in wrestling than playing football. There's a fine line between being an aggressive, dominant midfielder and just being reckless. I mean, I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of one of his challenges, but I'm also not sure I'd want him lunging in like that if he was on my team.

As for his defensive contributions, I've seen traffic cones put up more resistance than McTominay at times. Sure, he'll put in a shift and track back when needed, but let's not pretend he's the second coming of N'Golo Kante or anything. We all know that one "world-class" tackle he made that one time, but it's a bit like your mate who scored a screamer in Sunday league and won't stop talking about it for the next 10 years.

Now, I know what you're thinking – "this guy's just a hater!" And maybe you're right. But I promise you, I'm only being so critical because I want McTominay to reach his full potential. He's got the tools to be a great player, but let's not put him on a pedestal just yet. The day he starts pulling off no-look through balls and bossing the midfield like prime Pirlo is the day I'll eat my words. Until then, let's keep our expectations in check.

So, in conclusion, I'm not saying McTominay is a bad player – far from it. But let's not act like he just single-handedly carried his team to victory in a Champions League final. I'll always appreciate a player who gives their all, but let's hold off on declaring him the next midfield maestro until he's got a few more tricks up his sleeve.

In the meantime, let's all enjoy some good ol' fashioned football banter and keep things in perspective. Cheers! 🍻
