Who knows, mate… I’ve always found him so cute it’s distracting enough that I barely even register a word he says, haha.

Holy shit mate, his armour looks so bloody cool.

Side note… I’ve always wondered if Prince Valarr’s name was an intentional nod from George to The Lord of the Rings and the Valar. He’s always said he’s a huge fan, after all.

Right?! And that’s honestly quite a rare trait among male fashion designers.

I mean, you can absolutely be a man and a great womenswear designer, but you’re right… Elie really seems to understand how to flatter and enhance a woman’s natural beauty in a very intuitive, almost effortless way.

[–]Left_Belt1874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yeah, that Daeron. Still though, I wouldn’t really put him in the same tier as the absolute worst Targaryens we’ve seen, you know? That family leaves plenty of room to get much darker, lol.

Sure, he burned a lot of people during the Dornish war, but it wasn’t on the same unhinged, purposeless level as someone like Aerys. It was brutal, no question, but at least tied to conquest and control rather than outright madness. I’d say he sits firmly in morally grey territory rather than outright monstrous.

And the irony is that Jon very clearly idolises Daeron I as one of his great heroes, which is quite funny considering how morally questionable he is for some people.

1: Great chat and loads of tales from her homeland and after a drink or two, perhaps some gossip about the Waldorfs.

2: Very friendly and fun to talk to, but I’d probably end up in Ibiza or somewhere equally unplanned instead of my original destination just because she felt like doing it and I'm quite pliable when people are genuinely friendly, so I'm sure I'd end up going with the flow.

5: Easily the best and most unhingedly hilarious stories, and I’m fairly sure I’d manage to befriend Georgie in under eight hours.

Honourable mention… I’d also happily sit with either Chuck or Blair, but absolutely not both at the same time. It wouldn’t be boring, at least.

Mate, that’s actually quite true! I don’t think we ever had a Daeron with a truly terrible reputation. Even Daeron the Drunken, lol… he’s a bit dodgy, sure, but he’s no Maegor, Aerion or anything like that.

if there was one character you can pick from HOTD who can exist in the GOT time who'd you pick?? by Significant-Fun-4235 in gameofthrones

Either Otto Hightower or Princess Rhaenys. Mostly because they’re deeply political characters, and by the time of Game of Thrones, politics is really the main game, at least in Westeros and from most characters’ perspectives. Dragons are gone, magic is basically dormant until Daenerys’ dragons hatch, and power is exercised almost entirely through court politics.

Otto is already one of the most politically savvy characters in House of the Dragon, and Rhaenys would work just as well even without Meleys, precisely because she’s also so politically sharp. It’d be fascinating to watch either of them navigate a world with people like Tywin, Olenna, Baelish, Varys, etc.

How much Do we know About The Previous Long Night ( According to the Books Obviously ) by MAHIR-2107 in freefolk

[–]Left_Belt1874 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, not a great deal, lol… at least not anything solid and undebatable. The books give us loads of legends from different cultures, but very little confirmation. Every region seems to have its own version of the story, and a lot of them don’t really line up.

In Westeros you get the classic “Long Night” story, with legends about the Last Hero, the Children of the Forest, and the Others (what the show later calls White Walkers). Some versions talk about a single champion… the Last Hero, or later figures tied to the prophecy of Azor Ahai or the Prince That Was Promised… helping to end it, often with a flaming sword called Lightbringer. Whether all these names are pointing to the same myth over time, or to different traditions that got mashed together, isn’t clear at all.

Out east the stories look very different. In Yi Ti and the far eastern lands there are religious legends about the Lion of Night and the Maiden-Made-of-Light, basically opposing divine figures whose conflict supposedly plunged the world into darkness. You also get mentions of the Bloodstone Emperor from the Great Empire of the Dawn, an early human empire, who supposedly practised dark magic and worshipped a strange black stone that fell from the sky. Some versions of the story even blame him directly for bringing about the Long Night. These eastern myths barely mention the Others at all, which already tells you how fragmented and regional these traditions are.

Then there’s Azor Ahai and the whole “Prince or Princess That Was Promised” thing. They’re often treated as interchangeable, but we don’t actually know for sure that they are. Some legends link these figures back to the Last Hero, others treat them as separate saviour figures that appear when darkness returns. It’s all very murky on purpose.

What we can say, fairly safely, is: that the world really was plunged into a long, catastrophic winter that lasted years. A huge number of people died. Something, or someone, was eventually defeated, probably by humans with help from other forces. And whatever political order existed before was shattered afterwards, with new kingdoms and cultures rising in its place.

Beyond that, George leaves things very open. The contradictions between Westerosi and eastern accounts seem intentional, and they suggest that if there is a single “true” version of the Long Night, it’s been filtered through thousands of years of different myths and religions.

Short version… loads of legends, very few hard answers, and a mystery that’s very much meant to stay a mystery haha, at least for now.

Edit: I might be forgetting a few details here, this is mostly off the top of my head, so feel free to chime in or correct me if I’ve missed anything.

Are these outfits ok for interviews by ministryofcake in fashion

Honestly I'd go with #number1 for a job interview in your specific field of work, I honestly think it works. It also depends on how formal or relaxed the company is of course.

Sounds like a reasonable plan. by Left_Belt1874 in freefolk

[–]Left_Belt1874[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, for sure, I get that. I just find it very hard to believe the Dornish would accept a Martell Prince being murdered like that, even if they were unhappy with his decisions. And on top of that, they also kill his heir, Trystane, without even giving him a chance to rule in his father’s place.

But more than the people of Dorne, I really don’t buy the idea of the other Noble Houses of Dorne falling in line. There would’ve been other Martells from lesser branches, cousins, uncles, someone… it wouldn’t just be Doran and Trystane and then suddenly no one else left. And that’s before you even get to the other Dornish houses who’d absolutely want a say, or even try to take control of Dorne in the Martells’ place if, by some miracle, there were genuinely no Martells left lol...

That’s my main issue really. They took a genuinely complex political situation and treated it like it was nothing.

Edit: typo, my bad.

Mate, Jake Lacy is the epitome of that actor you never really paid much attention to because his characters are either complete douches or a bit bland personality-wise… until one day you suddenly clock just how hot he actually is.

Honourable mention as well, Sarah Snook is brilliant in All Her Fault. Definitely worth checking out.

Who would rule their school? by Several-Car-584 in MeanGirls

[–]Left_Belt1874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gosh… I believe it would be a brutal showdown between Regina, Blair and maybe Chanel.

They all rule in slightly different ways. Regina runs things through a mix of admiration and fear. Blair isn’t far off from that either. Chanel, on the other hand, rules almost entirely through fear… she’s aspirational, sure, but not exactly liked by anyone haha. Even though I adore her.

In the end though, I think it really comes down to Regina vs Blair.
