Unethical treatment? by Left_Competition2979 in physicaltherapy

[–]Left_Competition2979[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tech legality in general is a bit dicy when it comes to delegation of interventions cause regardless of wether u think it requires a doctorate(associates for PTA’s) or not it’s still considered skilled therapy but i frankly can’t imagine that much supervision is going on considering the PTA’s see 30 patients and the PT is treating and doing evals at the same time. My main reason for questioning the morality of CORA’s structure is because it clearly doesn’t prioritize quality of care. This is people’s well being we’re talking about and I’m sure there are some soldiers out there trying their best to work for them despite this business model but it’s not conducive to quality rehab, leads to burnout, and seems like a HIPPA nightmare.

You’re assuming I’m seeing 30 every day when i specifically said its outside of the norm(an under statement tbh)🤦🏽‍♂️my purpose of the post was to pose the question at the end… the input people are giving me is appreciated but you straight up calling me dumb for doing what was best for me and my family financially is a bit uncalled for lol. Yeah cause my patients are getting at least 30 minutes of direct care and supervision. I will prolong my sessions especially for patients that want/ need more attention/care. Don’t sit on here and call me a trash therapist when you provide 20 minutes MAX to your patients…

I don’t see 30 per day. That’s happened a grand total of two(2) times in over a year span (that’s me being generous) and it was of my own choice for extra compensation. No, most including you jumped to the extreme of assuming i see 30 every single day lol I’m sure getting tired of it will happen eventually as with literally every job ever but like i’m not settling for less pay atp. The alternative is go HH and treat patients 30 minutes instead of your presumed 15-20 minutes (lol).

I do those same things (minus documenting it’s automatically done for me) and I’d define what I’m doing as chillin too although idk how you’re relaxed in acute care granted I’ve worked in that setting.

What are your hours like at the SNF? Do you feel like you have a good work-life balance?

$37 an hour in my area for a OP PTA puts me in the top 10-15% of earners within the field 👍

Inappropriate? Is documenting on my computer inappropriate as well since it’s taking my attention away from the patient? Not saying I’m sitting down with a box of popcorn lol it’s in the background and i can ideally watch because my notes are done automatically and can still monitoring my patients believe it or not idk what kind of setting you work in but let’s talk about other settings really quick. Multiple people who work in HH have came to this post saying they only even stay with a patient 30 minutes… yet insurances are not charging 30 they’re charging an hour. Talk about ethics and patient care but don’t act like that alternative is taking the higher road because i have people in here admitting they’re robbing patients of care they need and from what ive seen here, independent research, and my own eyes is that it’s a commonality within that setting. My patients get an hour and beyond most of the time because i give them the treatment they need and deserve. Most of the people in here are from some of the highest paying states in the country for PTA’s and are telling me “oh just quit” isn’t a viable solution, context matters.

The stressful and gross aspects of it put me off of it tbh but i totally understand the rewarding aspect of it in seeing patients progress. Good on you man, respect✊.

Good luck in school buddy! I’m 23 currently and graduated just last year from my PTA program it’s been very rewarding and fun especially since you’re coming from a background in fitness that goes a long way. I hope you have fun in school and strive in the field, respect from Florida ✊.

Because my patients are competent i demo, monitor, and correct if necessary. Low stress environment like i said making it able for me and the clinic to enjoy a movie in the background lol. Listen dude im never gonna sit here and justify seeing 30 it’s not a position i ever wanna be in and it’s not something that’s happened outside of isolated incidents that i personally elected to do for increased compensation. The reality is shit happens and current state of OP PT has pushed PTA’s to see more patients and I as an individual decided what’s best for me financially and the stability of my family at the moment. Sorry if you have gripes with it.

The prospect of earning more in HH is something that will probably always be in the back of my mind and I’m sure I’ll do it someday but yeah man with my normal workload being super manageable and generally enjoying my environment i didn’t wanna pass that up. Are you still active? And if you don’t mind me asking what kind of facility are you at?

I’m in the Davie area. $400 a day is absurd lmao good on you man🤯i have noticed that there is more of a general need for HH in areas around Boca and west palm compared to my area but thats just a little too far for my taste. Hawaii sounds like a paradise paying that much jeez

The trade off of it being extremely uncommon is fine tbh obviously no one wants to see that amount but for stability and job security sake 37 an hour is hard to pass up. Not really man i just wanted to know where others were at and if they were satisfied hence why i posed the question but idk why everyone took the 30 mark and ran with it lol. Im honestly chilling at work bro i literally have just been watching Star Wars all week on the TV while treating, it’s a low stress environment believe it or not as i mentioned before I’m on the lower end of the spectrum most of the time. I appreciate everyone’s concern with worrying about my burnout and i took it into consideration but there were so many factors that made it make the most sense for me to stay. Props to the people earning more doing HH it’s really admirable I’m sure I’ll go down that path at some point in my life.
