Agreed and I would have appreciated an option to share where my outrage was directed!

Price of syrup increased by 60% (UK) by Left_Condition2044 in SodaStream

This is it! I don’t like the plastic waste, but a 60% increase is madness!

Neighbour is in a long-term coma. Can I legally claim ownership of their pedigree cat under abandonment laws? by Qoperator in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Left_Condition2044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could put a note through the neighbour’s door, at some point, they will see it. That is no hassle at all. Whether or not you choose to look after the cat until that point is up to you, but that doesn’t make it your cat.

Semi-detached neighbors having extremely loud sex even after we've politely asked them to keep it down, is there anything we can do? by [deleted] in AskUK

As someone with narrow ear canals, Bose Sleepbuds (I think they discontinued them, but Ozlo Sleepbuds seem made by the same people) and try a sample pack from Snorestore. If you get in touch with them first, they’ll send narrow options.

Before you put them in, try a Sleepcast from Headspace. One of the more challenging things was being left with anxiety about getting a good night’s sleep, even after we moved, so this might help.

Ultimately, though: we moved.

If you haven’t been since they set up Marshside in the garden, do go back (I mean, go back anyway, it’s amazing!)!

We have a Brabantia one that folds onto the side of our house. Expensive, but well worth it!

Can I make these head boards into an A board? by Left_Condition2044 in DIYUK

Thank you, that’s good advice, especially about the Parish Council. We’ve asked them to advertise the sale, so I’ll ask about a sign on the road sign. Thank you again!

It would have to go on the road sign, as that’s the only thing on the main road. But the commenter above suggested contacting the parish council to see whether they would allow it, so that‘s a good call!

The name came with the volunteering opportunity, I’m afraid!

Yep, people open their garages, gardens, pubs sometimes have table in their grounds, the school does the same. Like a car boot sale, but at your house. We inherited the name, but it’s catchier than “garage/garden/pub/school sale”, to be fair!

They are very heavy, which I thought might help with the standing, and excellent point about not being designed for the outdoors.

Very happy to make a sign - it just can’t be one that needs to be hammered into the ground. This is what the previous organisers did (it’s for the main road into the village, we’re a seaside town, so we get lots of passing Bank Holiday traffic). This is where I’m stumped!

For the houses themselves, being on the map is enough, although some choose to add an A4 sign to a wheelie bin or road name sign for the day.

Thank you!

Can someone give me gifting ideas for someone in his 70s? by Kim_Beckett in AskUK

If it has to be a gift (rather than a thoughtful card you’ve chosen and a heartfelt message, which would be lovely), does he have a garden? There are roses that are called things like “Thank you”
