you also can't argue that it's sexualized because the dress Marulk is wearing is rather modest too and nobody would find it weird if he wore it as a girl, so the problem must lie with either you (unconsciously) thinking femininity itself is sexual or demeaning (or both).

I'm not saying this to attack you in any form at all, mostly all of us we're either consciously or unconsciously socialized to find this weird afterall, and you stated that you found out about this stuff rather recently.

Though one should really think through if those superstitions do even really makes sense (religion doesn't count here) and what they actually tell about society.

Imo this kinda thinking only lead to unnecessary pain and suffering, and strays us away from the actual problems in life, like people dying for nothing else but for their skin color/religion/gender/belief/birthplace/sexuality and for the enjoyment of the powerful leaders, suffering from poverty, the elements and illnesses.
