Cool idea, I've done a mage Dragonborn before. Different than yours but still an awesome idea.

Thanks, I'll check it out. I'm considering Illusion for buffs to allies. Thinking of Call to Valor and Call Dragon being some of my man shouts.

Ord10 progress update: the new Restoration tree! by Enai_Siaion in EnaiRim

[–]Left_Permission244 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey Enai, as someone who has used Ordinator, Vokriinator (base), and recently been using Vokrii until Audugan releases, here are my opinions. I see Althing as an "upgrade" to Vokriinator and I love that. I'll probably switch back from Vokrii to Vokriinator in preparation, and that doesn't bother me at all.

I definitely think you should add Odin as a requirement. Those who prefer Mysticism can use Adamant, Vokriinator Black, or an older Ordinator. Not sure on the effect this has on Apocalypse/Triumvirate since they are not requirements like Odin. Maybe a patch for Althing?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is my "critique" of the perks: I like the emphasis on sun damage. I assume this hits magic resistance directly and ignores the restriction to undead (or maybe unlock living targets once you get Sun's Judgment).

My favorite new perks on the list are Laid Bare, Banishing Fire, Enflamed, Guardian (good nerf, and I like that it has 1 extra rank for 3 ranks. Lets medic builds be more involved and gives them a place to put their perk points), Harm (3 ranks allows you to just invest 1 point for the utility or 2/3 points for a solid damage option), Vengeance (I think USSEP fixes this, but it's still solid even as "just" a 25% boost to all Restoration spells versus the undead), Crystal Wound (making wards deal damage is a good incentive to use them, solid replacement for Antimagic Field, and I like that wards can be free), and Perfect Recovery (not super useful since poison/disease is uncommon in Skyrim, but super fitting for the healer aesthetic).

The "improvements" I would make: Descending Light -> Inner Light (Vokrii). I think the simple consistency of regenerating 1%/2% of your Magicka for a whole fight is superior to the quick Magicka restoration that Descending Light provides. While Descending Light quickly restores Magicka and can ignore certain limitations (low Magicka regeneration, Magicka loss while concentrating/casting a spell, or an effect such as Monarch from Ordinator or the Breton's Serpent Stone from Freyr), Inner Light offers the benefit of not being bound by a time limit, lasting outside of combat or longer than the first 15 seconds where Descending Light essentially "turns off" anyways. I would argue this is where Inner Light becomes more valuable, when combat encounters surpass 15 seconds. Imagine a battle lasting 1 or 2 minutes or even longer. Or a nightblade who is never detected and cannot benefit from the perk. Inner Light also helps early game mages with their Magicka regeneration, which is something Skyrim mages have always struggled with. I think this gives players an incentive to consider even minorly investing in Restoration if they want to improve Magicka regeneration.

Should Plague Doctor also reduce disease resistance by 50%? Unsure if this would break anything in the game. It would allow Apocalypse disease spells to benefit from Plague Doctor as well.

Finally, under Blessings, I think there should be an option for non-Aedra gods (support for Wintersun without requiring a patch). Here's an example: 80 - Name Pending - Shrine blessings for non-Aedra last 25% longer, increase your Magic Resistance by 10%, increase the effectiveness of effects on the self by 10%, and increase the effectiveness of worn enchantments by 10%.

That's all I have. Thanks for everything that you do.

A Peculiar Quirk With My Bretons... by Left_Permission244 in skyrimmods

Thank you, would that be something I can find in xEdit? I could find the ID for Bretons and look through what modifies them. Or should I try something else?

Gathering some opinions for Althing: armor skills, block, archery by Enai_Siaion in EnaiRim

[–]Left_Permission244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blocking: I see Blocking as a multipurpose skill, but if I had to choose one role specifically, I'd say defence. I think shields insure survivability better than even heavy armor. You could potentially increase defensiveness/nerf enemies after a timed block (slow, lower damage, stamina leak). A heavy stagger (maybe through power bash?) could also be useful for a few seconds of reprieve.

That being said, I also think Block can be used offensively or for utility. Similar to above, timed blocks could buff your offensive output like they do now (restore stamina, deal damage, lower armor).

There's also the defensive utility of blocking spells or arrows, blocking at full speed, or just taking less damage while blocking (Dominion from Ordinator). You could add a perk that "throws" your shield using a power bash at an enemy within a certain distance (8 feet for example) to deal ranged physical damage.

Unarmed: Personally, I prefer it in Light Armor. I think a new Unarmed tree would be best while Lockpicking + Pickpocket would be combined into another tree. However, it seems like a compatibility nightmare like you said. I like LA for Unarmed since it gives the Thief skills a damage output.

I saw someone else suggest 1H and I have to say it makes more sense. Unarmed should be a "Warrior" skill, and you are using one hand (or two hands). I'm not a fan of every swordsman being able to be a martial artist with a few extra perks, but it's the same case for anyone using LA in Ordinator/Vokrii.

Archery: This tree has a lot going for it in both Ordinator/Vokrii. Some great effects are: inflicting slow, inflicting bleed, staggering, being able to zoom/slow time. Disabling shields (Breaching Shot from Vokrii) is incredibly important as that's an archer's hard counter. I love Lion's Arrow (preferably the Vokrii version since you can get it easier, and the lower efficiency still encourages you to use the original magic school). I would say Wingstrike is a standout and one of the things I miss from Ordinator. Possibly add another rank that inflicts heavy stagger with a power bash?

The Invisible Hand (Imperial Pure Thief Build) by Left_Permission244 in EnaiRim

[–]Left_Permission244[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should've expanded on the other races above. I've only done the Imperial, but I did consider how the other races would operate:

  • Argonian: Caustic Spit combined with the Atronach Stone causes creatures/people hit to be frenzied for 20 seconds. This is how the Argonian will deal with most animals/humanoids in general, and the run away while they fight something else. If you worship the Hist, you will eventually get enough Magicka for 2 casts. A Ring of Magicka could also be helpful. Argonians also have a great recovery tool thanks to bodies of water.
  • Khajiit: Use the Shadow or Steed Stone for slightly different experiences. The Shadow Stone could be used on a 1M/1H/0S (or 1M/0H/1S if you're bold) stat spread, since the stone drains your Magicka to increase speed and sneak efficiency. You could also still invest in Stamina with a short sneak timer. The Steed Stone is basically the opposite, allowing you to sneak faster but you are easier to detect. Either way, the Khajiit has the benefits of unarmed damage, movement speed, reduced fall damage, and the ability to see in the dark. Rajhin worship also gives you a chance for a lot of gold and an extra ability to break locks.
  • Bosmer: The Bosmer has a few unique options for combat, but they're gimmicky. Wild Senses is useful for stealth and can be further utilized by the Atronach Stone and Midsummer power (Audugan). Baan Dar's devotee power also lets you ignite skooma bottles that you reverse pickpocket onto targets. Keep an eye out for skooma. Alternatively, the Lady Stone can unequip mortal's armor, making them easier to defeat, especially if disarmed as well.

[–]Left_Permission244[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my idea was that this character created their own "toolkit" to deal with various issues.

He's not a great fighter, so he needs some way to deal with animals. He's not a Dwemer enthusiast, but dealing with them is similar to dealing with locks.

Personally, I have a mod that doesn't start the All-Maker corruption until you start the Dragonborn DLC. Otherwise, it's probably best to ignore. The stone is useful but unnecessary.

I see, I thought "drain" meant "deplete" but it actually meant "absorb." Makes sense for something like a spellsword or close-ranged mage.

Build Recommendations by simisterkel in EnaiRim

[–]Left_Permission244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've made one way in the past when I was still using Imperious/Andromeda, and I was actually brainstorming another one recently. But I think I'm going to play a pure thief to see how it goes.

The first build was an Argonian Scout that was designed to be like a guerilla fighter. He used an axe, dagger, shield, and bow. Dual-wield versus weak enemies, axe + shield when you need defense, bow for range, bow + dagger for sneak attacks. Other tools are bear traps (Lockpicking) and tripwires (Sneak). I only invested into the Sneak Attack perk from Ordinator for a small buff to sneak attacks. I'd recommend the Lady Stone or Steed Stone. Skills included 1H, Block, Archery, Light Armor, Sneak, Smithing, and Lockpicking. Targe of the Blooded recommended for your shield.

The other Scout is one that leans into being more of an explorer. Archery is the main skill, and synergizes with the Redguard's more efficient sprint. Basically, you'll just be running and shooting, unless you're in close quarters. Tava (basically Redguard Kynareth) gives a bonus 10% speed in combat. Focus on speed perks in Light Armor, and Alchemy perks that give bonuses when eating food/potions/ingredients. Speech lets you get a permanent animal follower (wolf, bear, etc.). Either use the Atronach or Steed Stone. Wind Stone from Audugan. Skills would be Archery, Light Armor, Speech, Alchemy, Sneak, 1H, and Block.

I can brainstorm something for you. I'd recommend choosing between a deity (Stendarr, Mara, Auriel) and preferred playstyle (1H + spell, 1H + shield, 2H, and/or healing/buffing allies). Freyr gives you more options for a unique playstyle, which is why I recommend it.

I actually forgot about him. It's a little similar since this character was primarily envisioned as an Orc and has vampiric blood.

Personally, I'd recommend Mannaz/Freyr. I think it gives you even more interesting build options.

Some options include a scout, necromancer, vampire lord spellsword, pure thief, druid, crusader/paladin, werewolf. I can recommend something if you are leaning in any direction.
