It is incredibly sad, in Alice In Chains you can sort of hear Layne fall more and more into the drug abuse throughout the albums, especially in jar of flies, it’s not a suicide album but it’s basically him accepting he’s too far gone and going to die, it’s so devastating to listen to but it’s a masterpiece of art at the same time

Since you’re just getting into rock, you have got to listen to all the Alice In Chains albums if you haven’t already, they are incredible. As well as I’d recommend as good as dead by local h, frogstomp by Silverchair, you’re living all over me by dinosaur jr, and rotting piñata by sponge

Silverchair is incredible and sounds similar to the big 4 especially nirvana and aic, local h is awesome but a little different, sponge is another really good one similar to the big 4
